Fin’s Fantasy Blurb

Navine is suffering Incubus addiction–a death sentence for any Sempire. When the search for a cure turns up only one rumor, Navine is horrified to learn the mutant Fin might be her only chance to live. Fearing the taint of the mutant more than fearing death, she continues to push him away as she tries to deny how his touch inflames her desire.

Fin was captivated by Navine the first moment their gazes locked but when she realized what he was–a male Sempire, a mutant, an abomination to the species–she’d rejected him. Burning with the need to touch her, taste her, he’ll do almost anything to save her even though she belittles him at every turn.

With time running out, passion must overcome prejudice to save Navine’s life and to grant Fin’s fantasy.

Fin’s Fantasy Quickie Excerpt

Navine growled and stomped her foot like a child throwing a temper tantrum. Fin almost laughed at the sight. She tried to slam the door in his face but he wasn’t having it and pushed his way inside.

“Get out!” Navine screeched. “Let me die in peace. I don’t need some mutant abomination following me around like a puppy.”

That was it. Fin snapped. He kicked the door shut behind him and grabbed her shoulders. She tried to jerk free but strong as she was, he was stronger.

“Why are you so rude, so nasty, so hateful? I’ve done nothing but feed you fruit and try to save your life and you continue to spit venom in my face. Look at me, Navine. I’m not some vile being. I am a male who wants to help you like no other can.”

Her wide eyes glinted with anger, fear and disgust. Damn it. Why must she find him so disgusting?

“Why?” she asked frantically. “Why do you want to help me?”

Because your beauty astounds me, takes my breath away. Because I’ve never craved another female as much as I crave you. “Because I’m the only chance you have and my family is counting on me, as is your brother.”

 Interview with Author Jocelyn Dex:

Tell us what is the best thing about living in the Houston area (’cause you gotta admit that it is awesome).

Hmmm… There’s a ton of delicious Mexican food in Houston and I love me some Mexican food. Good stuff! Really you can find just about any kind of food here. Lots of options. Also, the availability of pretty much anything you want to buy is convenient. As I write this, it’s super cold outside, but for the most part, we don’t have to deal with long spells of coldness. I hate being cold.

What do you enjoy most about writing paranormal romance/erotica?

I enjoy the escape from the real world. Getting lost in a world where I get to make up the rules is great fun. And all the hot sex on the way to a happily ever after is awesome too. (。◕‿◕。)

At what point did you decide to be an author and what was your path to publication?

I always knew I wanted to write. My mom wrote when I was a kid. She never sought publication which is unfortunate because her writing was good but she instilled a love of reading and storytelling in me. Anyway, in 2012, I sat down to write Araya’s Addiction, book one in the Sempire Seductions series. I stressed over every word until I finally decided to send it to Ellora’s Cave. Fortunately, the editor, who received the manuscript, liked it and I received an acceptance email within thirty days and a contract a couple weeks later. To say I was super excited would be an understatement. It’s a year later, three books later and I’m still blown away.

Which one of your characters is most like you/least like you?

Um. It’s difficult to answer which character is most like me. I’m sure all of the characters have at least a little piece of me in them. Least like me? Hmmm. I thought that would be easier to answer but it’s not. Ha. So, I’m going to cop out and say the bad guy in Valia’s Villain.

Do you write one novel at a time, or do you juggle your ideas?

When I first started writing seriously, I could only focus on one story at a time but now I tend to juggle. There are too many ideas bouncing around in my brain and if I don’t work on them when they’re fresh, they tend to fizzle out. Right now, I’m working on a novel, a short story and a novella.
