Top Ten Books I’d Give To Readers Who Have Never Read NA and/or Paranormal YA:

Rose review avatar   Rose’s List of Top Books She Would Give To Readers Who Never Read New Adult:

  1.   Easy by Tamarra Webber- This book is the epitome of NA in my opinion. It is one of my all time favorite books ever and definitely drew the largest crowd for my book club I run here at home.
  2.   Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover- this is another good example of NA. It hits all the important key aspects of NA without being cliche.
  3.   Faking It by Cora Carmack- I liked this one better than the first book and it is absolutely entertaining!
  4.   Thoughtless by S.C.Stephens- I loved this entire trilogy. It deals with a similiar issue as Maybe Someday, but this book has an entirely different feel to it. I loved reading this…and just keep reading, I promise, the main character matures more as the books progress… yes she annoyed me, too, at first.
  5.   Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire- I think this book is a good example of how NA can be so different from both YA and regular contemporary romance. This book is a must read if you like NA.

Julie Review Avatar   Julie’s List of Top Books She Would Give To Readers Who Never Read Paranormal YA

  1. Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent (This is my #1 favorite series to recommend – it is unique, has lots of great characters, a creepy world, and some great plot twists.)
  2. Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa (This series is a bit too journey for my usual tastes, but the characters and Faery world are really well done. I felt like I got a great lesson in everything faery and all the types of creatures.)
  3. Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey (I really liked the premise and thought the message was meaningful.)
  4. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake (I thought this was a unique ghost story.)
  5. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (Because Dimitri is my book boyfriend.)

Well I hope you get a chance to give these books another chance 🙂 And yes, Jamie Fraser is the reason I keep up with the massive Outlander series 🙂

Ooh good recommendation. The authors have very different writing styles, but hope your friend enjoys 🙂

What I like about both VA and Iron Fey is all the world building. It is awesome for both genres 🙂

Scarlett is is all about age group of the characters. YA is under 18 (coming of age from teenager to adulthood) and NA is more like 18-24 (kind of like college years, first career, etc). Then after that it is just adult.
I can’t decide which series I like more – Dimka or Tod? Hard one.

Scarlett Julie pretty much explained it… try a few of the books I listed and see if you get the feel… to me it feels a lot like YA, but more mature…and it reads better and easier in my opinion than a lot of regular adult fiction

I think that a lot of NA has become basically contemporary romance with a lot of sex in it. The NA books that I like are ones that feel a lot like a mature YA book… I do not know if that makes any difference to you, but yeah… I like NA books that focus on the young twenty year old’s “coming of age” story. I like books with a great love story and unforgettable characters. (And just for information purposes here, I love YA as well)

I think it helps that I’ve met both authors of those books multiple times and really like them as people too 🙂
