Is there a book (or several books) that you’ve already read but would just love to be able to read for the first time?
Julie:
I’m not much of a re-reader, so there are a lot of books that I’ve already enjoyed, but don’t plan on enjoying again. Though it would be fun to enjoy for the first time again. So since I’m lazy, I’ll just show my “favorites” shelf. Any of these books would be fun to enjoy for the first time.
Rose:
Hmmm …..There are several books I would love to be able to experience again for the first time. Here they are in no particular order:
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (really, did THINK I would have a list in which this book is not made a part?)
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
Thoughtless Trilogy and Thoughtful by S.C. Stephens
Easy by Tammara Webber
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and
The reasonI so often re-read books is because I love the experience. I love reading my favorite books again and again (especially listen to audio books again and again) because I enjoy the experience. However, nothing beats the very first time you hear Kellan Kyle pour his heart out to a disbelieving Kierra and yet, STILL act like a jerk the next day. tsk tsk tsk. Kellan.
Lynn:
I’m not much of a re-reader, either. There are too many other books out that that I could be reading for the first time. If I was going to pick books to re-read, though, it would probably be books I read when I was younger and just don’t really remember all that well. Jules Vern would be towards the top of the list. I’ve re-read Jane Austen’s books, so maybe some Bronte (Charlotte and Emily, both). I’d throw in some Agatha Christie as well. (Yes, I was a precocious reader as a child.) Of the books I’ve read as an adult, the books I’d want to experience for the first time include Outlander, Pillars of the Earth, Harry Potter, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and Phedre’s Triolgy.
I almost never re-read, but I loved Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover so much that I’ve often wanted to pick it back up – which is unusual for me! So, I guess that one.

Interesting choice. I wouldn’t mind reading Hopeless again for the first time.
[…] last week’s most clicked on link was this post from Chat Between Chapters – What book(s) would you love to read for the first time?. Quite a lot of interesting responses […]

I do re-read books a lot. Especially if I have to wait a year for the new book to come out in a series, I will usually read the series again, or at least the last book so I can recall what is happening. If I could read books again for the first time I would read the Harry Potter series and The Night Circus.

I still need to read The Night Circus, everyone seems to love it.
The audiobook for The Night Circus is FANTASTIC, Julie. I’ve read the book and listened to it. I loved it both times. Jim Dale is the narrator.
I’ve found that audiobooks can be a great way to re-read books. I’m listening to Outlander right now on my drives to work.

Jim Dale is awesome!
There are a few books I re-read…Pride & Prejudice, of course! But I think that it’d be wonderful to be able to read a book (again) for the first time. A book like Slammed. Or even Twilight. I would re-read these and enjoy them all over again…but it wouldn’t be the same experience as I had the very first time.

Yea both of those would be awesome to read again for the first time!
Oh, Hopeless is a good one. Although it was also some serious emotional turmoil I’m not sure I want to go through again. 🙂 Maybe instead of making myself bawl, I would choose something by Tara Sivec…you never laugh as hard as you do the first time you hear a joke. 🙂

I’m with you that I don’t know if I could go through that emotional ride again for the first time, though it was amazing. I haven’t read Tara Sivec, but you’re right about the joke thing 🙂
I’m not much of a re-reader either but if I could read some books for the first time again, it would have to be the A Song of Ice and Fire series. I love how much the books surprised me and amazed me when I read them the first time.

Those are definitely good reasons to want to read a series for the first time 🙂
The Scorpio Races – what an amazing story… I’m reading it once a year, but it’s not the same as that one first time. Sigh. Clever post <3
