Let’s chat about our favorite foodie characters.

Julie Review Avatar Julie:

I think we absolutely have to start with Julie from Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously. There is nothing more foodie than spending a year working through your favorite cookbook while saving your life.

Then there’s Nastya from Sea of Tranquility (one of our favorite YA novels here) with creation of cakes at Sunday dinner.

LynnpicLynn:

Goldy from the Goldy Bear Culinary Mysteries series by Diane Mott Davidson. She’s a caterer who solves murders. Right up my ally!

Theo from the Tea Shop Mystery series by Laura Childs. As a tea drinker, this is one tea shop that I would want to hang out in, despite all the murders!

The Cupcake Club series by Donna Kauffman is a great dessert after all those murders. Fluffy frosting and swoony romance in a cupcake shop.

How about you? Any favorite foodie characters?

  1. The two books I thought of right away were:

Hassan from “The Hundred Foot Journey.” Food is a huge part of this book, as it’s about chefs and restaurants. (I didn’t love the book, but it’s definitely a “foodie” book.)

Also, Minka from “The Storyteller” by Jodi Picoult. She is a baker and there’s a recipe for her rolls at the back of the book. I haven’t made it yet, but I’m planning on it.
