Clean Out Your E-Reader and Netgalley November Challenges (Nov 2013)

Julie’s November Challenges: For the month of November I found some great challenges to help me with my ARC collection. So here we go 🙂 Challenge #1. Clean out your E-reader (COYER) Challenge hosted by Fantasy is More Fun and Because Reading is better than real life. This challenge is to help us be motivated to go through some of those freebies we’ve purchased or those Netgalley arcs for review that have piled up. So let’s face it, I *know* I have more freebie purchases on my kindle than purchases of books that cost something and that I planned to read soonish. In fact, I… Read more »

Feature and Follow Friday – Nov 1, 2013

Feature for Nov 1, 2013 –  Question: What book are you embarrassed to admit you LOVED? (try to think beyond Twilight)   Julie: I’m having a really hard time with this question since I don’t really get embarrassed over what I read, especially if I enjoy it. Usually, I won’t read stuff that would embarrass me to talk about. The only book series that really comes to mind is the Fifty Shades trilogy, and while I enjoyed the story, I can’t say I *loved* it. I won’t necessarily bring it up, but if someone asks if I’ve read it, I’ll talk about… Read more »

I know it is all cool now to hate on Twilight but honestly when I read this book it was after the first movie came out and I really liked the… Read more »

Atria Indie Authors Event in Houston 10/25/13, and a Giveaway

Atria Indie Authors Jamie McGuire, Abbi Glines, and Colleeen Hoover toured this week and Friday Oct 25th was our stop in the Houston area! It was held by Katy Budget Books but the event took place offsite at a nearby school so that there would be more space for everyone attending. It was definitely nice to get a chair to sit in rather than standing or sitting on the floor.   It was kinda weird that the store manager stood up and read their bios to us, like we don’t know who they are!   We started with a Q&A… Read more »

Feature for Oct 25, 2013 – Activity. Bookagram: Photograph your fave read in a funny place.   Julie: I don’t have a fave read (seriously, who asks that of a booknerd??) but I photographed my dog pretending to read my kindle. That’s Dixie holding the kindle, and Diesel hiding behind her. He’s terribly camera shy.   Rose: .Okay, so my pic isn’t all that funny as it is interesting? unplanned? My pic is from 3 years ago.
