15 Day Book Blogger Challenge,Day 15- Who Are Your Book Blogging Mentors?

It’s Day 15 of  the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge, started up by Good Books and Good Wine.   Rose’s Blogger Mentors: I really do not have a blogging “mentor.”  Perhaps I should have one? I have certain blogs that I read and take note of the way they handle things and try to model myself (and this blog) after them. Those blogs are: A Bookish Escape– this is the blog that first got my interest in blogs. I met one of the blog authors this past January at a book signing. The Boyfriend Bookmark– I love the books this blog recommends and am… Read more »

Blogger Book Fair: N.R. Wick Guest Post

Please welcome N.R. Wick to Chapter Break as part of the Blogger Book Fair! Guest Post: Writing Middle Grade fiction and Young Adult fiction by N. R. Wick Hi everyone! It’s a pleasure to be here. One of the things I get asked a lot my family and friends is if I approach young adult fiction differently than middle grade fiction. The funny thing is that I don’t really do anything differently. My process is pretty much the same, and so is my writing style. Even though I don’t put too much thought in how I differentiate between the two,… Read more »

Harlequin Teen #YeahYA! Tour, Houston stop

Harlequin Teen #YeahYA! Tour, Houston stop

@Page Turners Blog is the official Houston blogger for the #YeahYA event, so definitely check out the official post there 🙂 But just cause I’m not the official blogger doesn’t mean I can’t write-up my own summary. 🙂 The tour was hosted at Katy Budget Books, which was so convenient I just couldn’t NOT go. I mean, it was like 10 minutes from my house. I literally went to the event on my way to the grocery store. Julie Kagawa and Aimee Carter were the two authors at the Harlequin Teen #YeahYA! Houston stop. Here’s a closer photo of Julie… Read more »

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge,Day 14- Deal Breakers

It’s Day 14 of  the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge, started up by Good Books and Good Wine.   Rose’s Deal Breakers: The number one deal breaker for me is messing with my HEA.  Yes, I am looking at you, Jessica Sorensen. Just don’t do this. I can deal with heartache and heart break and tragedy and sadness, but not what Jessica Sorensen did to me.  I bet you wanna check out what I am talking about, huh? I suppose I will save you the trouble and just put the link HERE. Now aside from that, deal breakers for me include bad, like really really bad, editing in an… Read more »

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge,Day 13- Underappreciated Books Everyone Should Read

It’s Day 13 of  the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge, started up by Good Books and Good Wine.   One Two underappreciated books Rose thinks EVERYONE should read: My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick.  A simple coming of age love story. Simple as in, no melodramatic teenaged angst, no love triangle, etc.  However, this book is not fluffy as some reviewers state.  I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I look forward to more from this author. This was her debut novel.   Take Me There by Carolee Dean. I thought this was just going to be a guilty pleasure read. like… Read more »

15 Day Book Blogger Challenge,Day 12- Fighting Blogger Fatigue

It’s Day 12 of  the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge, started up by Good Books and Good Wine.   How Rose fights blogger fatigue: I like to schedule all of my reading a month in advance. I know that sounds boring and tedious, but it seriously helps me stay focused on what I need to be reviewing on my blog.  I love to organize and reorganize and organize some more, to the point that nothing gets done, but usually everything is organized. That is, until I feel like being messy, which, ya know, happens.  I also try to schedule my blog post drafts in advance.  Having the posts drafted in advance… Read more »

Feature and Follow Friday – July 19, 2013

Feature for July 19, 2013 – Book Vacay: Where is the best destination reading spot for you? (Where do you like to go to read other then your home)   Rose: I know this will more than likely sound super lame, but I love to read at the library.  It is peaceful. I will never run into anyone I do not wish to see. Everyone is quiet. No one looks at me like I am a weirdo for reading forever and a day on a perfectly sunny afternoon and best yet, if I finish the book I am currently on, I can… Read more »
