That’s what HE said Thursday Rewind- August 13, 2015

Every Thursday we are hosting a brand new meme called: That’s what HE said Thursday. For more info on what this meme is all about click here.   Rose’s Quote: “So I don’t want you to feel pressured. Or overpowered. But I do, absolutely, want to kiss you right now. Badly.” –Lucas to Jacqueline (Easy by: Tammara Webber) I decided to reshare this TWHST post because Lucas is one of my all time favorite book boyfriends.  This is a quote he says to Jacqueline right after sketching her and telling her he is not like “that” guy.  I like self aware Lucas is and… Read more »

Chat Between Chapters: Authors who should collaborate on a book

Chat Between Chapters: Authors who should collaborate on a book

Are there any authors you think would write an awesome book together? Share which authors you would love to see collaborate on a project.  Julie: I’m sure there are plenty of authors who would benefit from a collaborative work, but off the top of my head I can think of two lovely ladies who I would love to see collaborate – Rachel Vincent and Sophie Jordan. I’ve read many of their books and have met them in person several times (Sophie Jordan lives locally to me). They’re even friends! I enjoy their storytelling styles and I think their talent for… Read more »

Easy Discussion Guide

Easy Discussion Guide

I run a book club. From time to time, I find it almost impossible to find good study guides/discussion questions for the books we are reading. So I thought I would share the study guides that I created myself and offer them for your use with your own book club. I do not mind if you use these, but would greatly appreciate feedback if you found them useful.  Discussion Questions for Easy by: Tammara Webber Names is an important theme throughout this book. Take note of the following passages: Jacqueline reclaims her old name instead of Jackie (p. 19) Lucas meeting Jacqueline… Read more »

Chat Between Chapters: What book(s) would you love to read for the first time?

Is there a book (or several books) that you’ve already read but would just love to be able to read for the first time?  Julie: I’m not much of a re-reader, so there are a lot of books that I’ve already enjoyed, but don’t plan on enjoying again. Though it would be fun to enjoy for the first time again. So since I’m lazy, I’ll just show my “favorites” shelf. Any of these books would be fun to enjoy for the first time.      Rose: Hmmm …..There are several books I would love to be able to experience again… Read more »

Chat Between Chapters: Top 5 Love Story Reads

At Chapter Break, we heart love stories. What are your top 5 love stories of all time?    Rose: While it is very difficult to narrow down to only 5, these are some of my favorite love stories off all time, in no particular order: 1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon- Jamie and Claire’s love story is EPIC to say the least. I love a tortured hero and a strong heroine and this book has them both! Add in some time travel, horses, Scot’s accents and a kilt and WOW!  2. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons- This book liberated me… Read more »

Chat Between Chapters: Do you have a book you love to recommend?

Chat Between Chapters: Do you have a book you love to recommend?

“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.” – John Green, The Fault In Our Stars Which book would this be for you?  Julie: Honestly,  I don’t push books on people very much. Plus, most of the people I talk about books with have already read the books I’ve read anyway. But, there are a few I do recommend if someone new to the bookish world asks for some. For a contemporary… Read more »

Chat Between Chapters: Contemporary Romance

Chat Between Chapters: Contemporary Romance

Contemporary Romance: Like it, love it or leave it  Julie: I’m not huge on romance books in general – there usually has to be something more going on in the story than just a romance. So normally I wouldn’t pick up a contemporary romance book unless there was something specifically awesome about it and lots of people were recommending it. Colleen Hoover and Tammara Webber for example are awesome and many of their books are exceptions to my general rule.  Rose: But Julie! What about books by Colleen Hoover? Or Tammara Webber? Those books are considered contemporary romance even though… Read more »
