Book Expo America (BEA) is going on in NYC, but not all of us are lucky enough to be able to attend. So this wonderful thing called Armchair BEA was created so some of us can participate from the comfort of our homes! We’re thrilled to participate in this huge event in our second month of blogging! Woot! Armchair BEA is kicking off with introductory posts so we can get to know everyone better.
Julie’s Introduction
What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2013?
Well you can see what I’m reading right now on the sidebar, so let’s talk about some favorites. I don’t really have *one* favorite so far, but I do have several that I just loved. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover is one of them, and is the book that inspired the name of this blog. I also really loved With All My Soul by Rachel Vincent, the final book in the Soul Screamers series. Another super awesome book I read was Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This was a book club book and was just wonderful (pun intended).
Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
Hmm, that I speak Russian. Not super duper well, mind you, but it was my first language so I speak it at about a 6 year old level, which was when I moved to the US and started learning English.
Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
My fave post so far would be the Teen Book Con post. It is really long because I had all this awesome stuff to share with everyone! It was such a great event!
If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
I wouldn’t mind a dinner date with Dimitri Belikov from the Vampire Academy. He’s definitely my favorite book boyfriend.
What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?
Um.. Hogwarts! Need I say more?
Rose’s Introduction
What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2013?
My favorite book so far for this year is The Sea of Tranquility by: Katja Millay. I also really liked Ten Tiny Breaths by: K.A. Tucker. I tend to reread a lot of books, and my favorite rereads so far this year have been Hopeless by: Colleen Hoover, Easy by: Tammara Webber, and Dragonfly In Amber by: Diana Gabaldon.
Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
I once held a human brain in my hands. This is sort of creepy, I guess. However, just so no one thinks I am a serial killer on the side, it was in 11th grade for Bio day at Gannon University.

If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
For author, I would have to say it would probably be Jane Austen because like, wow, she really wrote the first NA novel if you think about it and so little is really known about her. As for what character would I most like to have dinner with, well see that is tricky… because I would probably choose someone like Lucas from Easy or Holder from Hopeless because reading those books made me totally fall in love with those two guys, but really, what would be the point right? I mean, they are in love with other chics and I am older than them and it would just be bad. So I would say that I would more than likely like to have dinner with a female character… say Anna Emerson from On the Island because she would probably have a pretty insightful outlook on life having spent time on a deserted island and surviving a tsunami. However, let me just throw this out there, if there were any unattached dudes from Abbi Glines’ Sea Breeze series that were available for dinner one evening, I wouldn’t say decline. I would still want to have dinner with Anna Emerson first, as she could give me tips for dating a younger man.
What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?
Edinburgh, Scotland circa 1764, Jamie Fraser is released from prison. I would try to make him forget about Claire. If that were not possible, I would still have 2 years with him in which I could prevent his marrying Laoghaire, -time well spent.

Russian and a human brain??? how cool! I’m adding your BEA’s post to my Sunday Wrap up!
Daniela recently posted…Writing checklist: 20 easy ways to write more
Haha I guess we are a fun bunch 🙂 Thanks!
I love your background- so many amazing books there! Vampire Academy is one of my favorite series, and I LOVE Dimitri! I’m really looking forward to the movie next year.
Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi!
Julie: Hogwarts! Yes! I really wish I had a second language…even if it was only a 6 year old. I can understand bits and pieces of numerous languages, mostly due to listening to songs or watch tv shows with them but I can’t speak any really.
Rose: I really enjoyed Ten Tiny Breaths, and I’m definitely looking forward to One Tiny Lie. Also is it creepy that I find the fact that you’ve held a brain cool? I use to be a Biology major (before I changed to Anthropology) so that kind of stuff is a bit cool to me. Though it does make my skin crawl a bit…lol
Julie-that’s cool about Russian! I have a friend who is fluent but doesn’t use it.
Rose-um having been to Edinburgh and taken the tour of the old part of town, trust me you wouldn’t want to be there in 1764!
Have a great week participating in Armchair BEA. 🙂
Julie, that is so cool that you speak Russian. I wish I could speak another language.

Nice to meet you! I loved Sea of Tranquility, too. Welcome to Armchair BEA!
AH@Badass Book Reviews.
Glad to meet you both! Julie: You’re the like 4th person I’ve met who speaks Russian. I think I missed that boat, but I do speak French. 🙂 Rose: Your literary location is awesome! Tattooed Books
Holding a human brain Rose? You are far braver than I. And Julie, Harry Potter is a favorite of my husband too.
Nice to meet you both. 🙂
