It’s Day 5 of the 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge, started up by Good Books and Good Wine.
Rose’s Tear Jerker Recommendation:
A tear jerker? Recommend one? Okay, well you asked for it! Just remember that, if tears are shed, it is NOT MY FAULT!!! okay, so that being said, I recommend John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars. I know some people might be completely turned off by this book because it deals with kids having cancer. (And perhaps the fact that I just recommended it as a tear jerker) HOWEVER, let me just say, this book had me laughing right through the tears. Amazing read. I highly recommend the audio version of this book. Kate Rudd does a knockout job reading this book.
Julie’s Tear Jerker Recommendation:
Okay so I am not much of a crier. I know some people who bawl while reading books and I think they are just silly. I’m just not super emotional I suppose. BUT, there have been a few books that left me blurry eyed and very much feeling all the feels.
One such book is Wonder by R.J. Palacio, which I read earlier this year for a book club. This book had all kinds of feels, from loss to anger to pain of being mistreated for being so different, to joy at being accepted and loved. This is certainly one of the best books I’ve read in a while.
Another book that left me red eyed and sniffly is Between Balloons by Kimberly Russell. I started the book on my lunch break and just had to continue reading until I was finished. I’m surprised no one asked me if I was ok. This was one of the first books that affected me so much in a while. I read this in 2011 as an e-ARC provided by the awesome lady herself.

I still need to read the Fault In Our Stars and thanks for the other recommendations. I think Sarah’s Key by Tatiana deRosnay was a tear jerker for me, that book moved me in so many ways. What a great challenge!
One of my local book clubs is reading Sarah’s Key and I just can’t bring myself to participate in that one cause I know it is going to be rough.
The Fault in our Stars is such a popular answer in today’s challenge, I think I definitely have to grab a copy asap.
Day 5 Challenge Post
Oh man, I keep meaning to read Wonder. Thanks for the reminder!
Julie – I almost featured Wonder, too. I loved that book so much. I think one of the most emotional parts was when Auggie asks his mom is he’s always going to be ugly. That part!
I’m a pretty emotional reader, actually, so I try to stay clear of tearjerkers.
