Rome: A Marked Men Novel by: Jay Crownover
It’s my favorite thing ever to have all the people I love in one place at the same time. Pair that with a day off from work, cold beer, barbecue, and fireworks, and I couldn’t be a happier camper.
And I would have been ecstatic, if only a dark, looming, man-shaped cloud wasn’t bound and determine to rain all over my parade.
Okay, so this little gem just arrived for me in the mail two nights ago. Whenever I click on giveaways, I never truly expect to win because I so rarely do. So naturally, I forgot all about this. Imagine my surprise. Okay, so that aside, what do I think of the first few lines? Honestly? It took me till the second page to realize who was narrating. I mean, yeah, the chapter does give a pretty big clue to anyone but yours truly. I am not sure how I missed that at first. As for the book, well, it seems obvious that already this chic and Rome have met before or at least taken stock of one another and our narrator does not seem to be that interested. I can sense tension and I am interested to continue reading.
I am always surprised when I win something, too. Love the description in the opener.
