Labor Day by: Joyce Maynard
It was just the two of us, my mother and me, after my father left. He said I should count the new baby he had with his new wife, Marjorie, as part of my family too, plus Richard, Marjorie’s son, who was six months younger than me though he was good at all the sports I messed up in. But our family was my mother, Adele, and me, period. I would have counted the hamster, Joe, before including that baby, Chloe.
I have been seeing the previews for the movie, Labor Day, online and on tv a lot, so I thought I would try a sample of the book today. I did not click to purchase and read on, but not so much because I wasn’t interested, but because it was a little above the price I like to spend on e-books. I liked the storyline so far and it looks like an interesting movie as well. I am curious if anyone else has read this book and if so, what did you think of it? Is it worth the click or should I just wait for the movie? Also, I am not sure how I feel about the narrator of this story being the young boy, instead of Adele herself.
Okay and for those who have not seen the trailer here is the extended version:
I don’t go to movies much. I would read the book though. It sounds good.

I am very eager for the movie, too. I read Labor Day a couple of years ago…and I’m a big fan of Joyce Maynard. Hope you enjoy it…this one (and all of her books) are awesome.
Thanks for visiting my blog.
