Top Ten Tuesday REWIND! Favorite Words
Rose’s List of Top Favorite Words:
- Poop- despite this word’s disgusting meaning, it sounds like such an innocent word. It is even fun to say. In fact you practically can’t help but laugh whenever you say it. (You just said “poop”, didn’t you? Now you are giggling, aren’t you? See! Its a fun word!) What is NOT fun is when your 80 pound Doberman leaves you a “present” of it in your bedroom while you were away at work.
- Supposedly- people say this word wrong all the time. Listen for it next time. Most people say “supposably.” This makes absolutely no sense since we never say “probbedly”
- Probably- this word, unlike supposedly, is never said wrong. Well unless you count how I tend to say it. In fact, I admit, I am even bad about spelling/texting this phonetically the way I actually say it. “Prolly.”
- Sassenach- said in the deep scot’s brogue of highlander Jamie Fraser, my gosh is there a sexier sounding word ever!?
- Boofer- this is a local word that is used as an insult in Western Pennsylvania. Being from Texas, I had never heard the word until I had to ask my mom what it meant. She was appalled. (She had grown up there.) She asked me, “Did someone call you that?” I was like, “Yeah, whatever. What does it mean?” and my mom was like, “You are NOT a boofer.” Glad to know mom’s always got my back. Turns out Boofer was a term used to describe anyone undesirable, but usually pertaining to someone who is smelly, dirty, and generally unkept. It is a blanket insult that means you are NOT cool and no one likes you. High school was hard.
Julie’s List of Top Favorite Words:
- Purple – because it is my favorite color and I sometimes use it as a filler word for stuff. Like smurf.
- Amazeballs – because it is a really fun word to describe something truly spectacular.
- Serendipity – it is a fun word and has a good meaning
- Dessert – because who doesn’t love this word? heh
- Magic – there’s just something magical about it 😛

I love saying “amazeballs”! Yet every time that word leaves my mouth everyone stares at me like I just grew a second head instead of voicing something.

I say “poop” probably a hundred times a day, but then again I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old so that’s my life. Now I’m trying to teach my 3 year old when it’s appropriate to say it.
