Feature for March 7, 2014 –   Question. Recommend some of your favorite back-list books – books that are at least a few years old (I’m thinking 5-10 years old rather than classics).

Julie Review AvatarJulie:

Here are some of my favorites that were published in the 2000s.

The Thirteenth Tale
The Forgotten Garden
My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1)
Stray (Shifters, #1)
The City of Ember (Book of Ember, #1)
Moloka'i

Feature Interview Questions:

When did you start blogging?

We started the book blog in April 2013. I have a personal blog that I’ve had since the early 2000s!

What is your favorite part of book blogging?

I love interacting with other bookworms and fangirling over our most recent favorite book.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I review what I read, which varies based on book club selections and other interests. In general, I tend to post mostly YA and NA paranormal, dystopia, and some contemporary.

What is your favorite book(s)?

There is no such thing as my favorite book! It is only what book do I butterflying live at the moment (kudos if you get the references). I have a Goodreads shelf called “favorites” which has 80 some books on there. But if I had to list some off the top of my head, I would say With All My Soul by Rachel Vincent and Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Getting to meet so many wonderful authors and having an excuse to go to fun bookish events!

Rose review avatarRose:

Here are some of my favorite back-list books:

Outlander (Outlander, #1)
The Outsiders

The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman, #1)
Trinity

Feature Interview Questions:

When did you start blogging?

I started blogging in April of last year (2013).

What is your favorite part of book blogging?

My favorite part is the sense of community. I love how as soon as you discover that someone else loves the same books as you, you are instant besties.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I love to blog about books in the genres that I like reading the most. Those genres would be YA and NA. I love me a good love story.

What is your favorite book(s)?

Wow! That is like asking a mother to pick a favorite among her children. But since we all know mothers have favorites (as I clearly know I am MY mother’s favorite), some of my favorite titles would include Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and Easy by Tammara Webber. Oh! And Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan and Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

I have really enjoyed getting to meet new book lovers and the traveling! I have been to Dallas, and am going to Portland, Oregon in two weeks.

  1. Congrats on being the feature this week. Great choices I forgot about Stray when I was making my list. I still need to read the Outlander series. Thanks so much for sharing! Have a great weekend. New follower My FF

Thanks 🙂 The Outlander series is good, but wow is it long heh. If you’re like me, you’ll probably want to do the audio version. It is excellent by the way.

I read the next two books. I thought People of Sparks was really good too. I was so-so on The Prophet of something. I forget the name heh. I haven’t read the Diamond book yet.

  2. Congrats on being a feature!

The only book that you’ve mentioned that i’ve read is Stray from the Shifter series. I have mixed thoughts about the book, sometimes i love it and other times it just doesn’t do it for me. However you’ve got a great list there and i definitely need to check a few of the other books you’ve mentioned out 🙂

I definitely understand. Stray was a bit difficult and I can see it being hit or miss, but I really ended up enjoying the series.

Haha I thought that was a pretty cool reply too. When Rose sent me her answers to compile with mine I nearly fell out of my chair on that one. She cracks me up.

  3. Be still my heart! The Thirteenth Tale AND The Forgotten Garden?! Ok, I guess I’m technically half way through The Forgotten Garden, but still I’m loving it so far. And The Thirteenth Tale is one of my all time favourite books. Did you read Bellman & Black? I’m following both of you through goodreads!

Hi 🙂 Glad we’ve loved some of the same books. Yay instant friend! I haven’t read Bellman and Black yet – I’m kind of afraid to. I’ve been seeing some polarized reviews and I don’t want to taint my love of the Thirteenth Tale lol. I’d be interested in knowing what you think if you’ve read it.

      • Sadly…I’m in the group who was not a fan. It’s such a shame because it’s been so long between books, and it’s not changed my opinion of her as an author – anytime she releases a book, I’m THERE for sure. The language was as beautiful as you would expect coming from The Thirteenth Tale…but I am not entirely convinced there WAS a plot, let alone a good one, and the characters were not particularly likeable either. So I think you’re fine leaving this one well enough alone. Here’s hoping she releases another book and that it fares a bit better!

Thanks for selecting us as the feature! All this love today has been awesome! If you decide to give Outlander another chance, I would really recommend the audio. That’s how I’ve been reading all of them and they are really well done. I don’t know if I could sit through reading books that size and paced like that heh.

  4. Ooh, I LOVE Rachel Vincent’s Shifters series! (and all her other books, too 😉 Congrats on being featured this week! I’m a new Bloglovin follower. Happy Friday!
