2014 Challenges Q1 wrap up post

Posted March 31, 2014 by Julie S. in Challenges / 2 Comments

As you can see, I signed up for way too many challenges this year. Since I’ve been super busy with the move, reading time hasn’t really been easy to find. So I thought I’d do a quarterly wrap up rather than monthly wrap up posts.

2014YAaudiobookchallenge

Goal:  Easy Listening Listen to and review 12+ audio books. [Requires linking up reviews (but no recent linkups provided on the site)]

Progress: I actually think I’m doing quite well for this challenge. I’ve listened to quite a bit already and I’ve reviewed almost all. So here’s the list so far:

  1. Starters by Lissa Price
  2. All The Truth That’s In Me by Julie Berry
  3. The Diviners by Libba Bray
  4. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
  5. Uninvited by Sophie Jordan
  6. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

Series-Challenge-Button-2014-R-S-R

Goal:  Silver Badge 4-6 series

Progress: This one is hard to track because it won’t count until a series is complete.

  1. Slammed series by Colleen Hoover [including  Point of Retreat, NOT counting companion book This Girl]

Goal:  11-20 – A Friendly Hug [Link up reviews]

Progress:

  1. Slammed by Colleen Hoover
  2. Starters by Lissa Price
  3. Destroy me by Tahereh Mafi
  4. The Diviners by Libba Bray
  5. Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover [review to come]

Goal:  My Precious (I had my earbuds surgically implanted) 30+

Progress: I’m happy this particular challenge doesn’t require linking up reviews – since I don’t review EVERY audio I listen to. Phew here we go with the awesome list so far.

  1. Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain
  2. Starters by Lissa Price
  3. All the truth that’s in me by Julie Berry
  4. The Diviners by Libba Bray

  1. What did you think of The Diviners, Julie? I read it last year and it was so packed with characters and plot it seemed to take FOREVER to move forward.

I love the narrator they have for Gabaldon’s Outlander series. I’m on the prowl for the audiobooks at Half Price Books. I’ve read all the books already, but listening to them is a treat!

The Diviners was slow to start, but I liked it by the end. I linked to the review if you want to read more detail.
I don’t know if I could stomach sitting long enough to read an Outlander book heh. So I love the audios not only because they are amazingly done, but also because they help me to actually read those books.
