Books To Be Read SOON! (or at least, we INTEND to read them soon)
Rose’s List of books to be read soon:
- Written In My Own Heart’s Blood by: Diana Gabaldon. I have only been waiting years and the time is finally here!!!!! June hurry up and get here already!!! Best new? I am going with a couple of friends to Herself’s book signing in Dallas, Texas. Can we say road trip!? YAY!
- Rome by: Jay Crownover. Yes, I am finally giving myself permission to read a series out of order. I am skipping Jet’s story and going to read this since it is the first ever paperback arc I have received. I am excited to start this one.
- Belonging by: Karen Ann Hopkins Okay this book has been pissing me off? Why you ask? Because I cannot seem to finish it, that is why! I am interested, but I just can’t seem to finish it. Is it a great book, well no. Is it a bad book? No. So what is the deal? I have no clue. I am finishing this book soon dangit! I will NOT be defeated! Victory shall be mine!
- A Clash of Kings (A Song of Fire and Ice #2) by: George R.R. Martin I actually just began this. I decided after enjoying the HBO series so well, I would start reading the books. I am listening to the audio versions. It took me a little bit to get used to the narrator’s voice, but now I am listening to it just fine. I will listen to the whole series this way. I have not been bored at all so far as some people have complained. Perhaps listening to the audio while working or driving helps with that. I am liking the books as much, if not more, than the series.
- Forever by: Karen Ann Hopkins. That’s right. I am not only going to finish book #2 Belonging but I am going to dominate by reading the third and final book in the series as well. Yes. It has become personal for me.
Julie’s List of books to be read soon:
- Mind Games by Christine Amsden. I will be reading this for an upcoming book tour review post. I recently read the first and second book in this series and really enjoyed them.
- The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa. This is the epic conclusion and ever since I read book 2 and it left a hole in my heart, I wanted to read this (but also kinda am a little nervous to).
- The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. This is a book club selection but also a book I’ve had on my TBR for some time.
- The Archived by Victoria Schwab. I’ve had this on my list for a while and the concept really interests me. So I hope to get to it soon.
- If I Stay by Gayle Forman. With the movie coming out soon, I really should read this book.

Rose, I want to come on your field trip!!! I’m going to be away when Diana G. comes to my town, so I’m trying to convince myself that it’s okay to splurge on flying to either Seattle or Phoenix to see her. CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS BOOK! (Sorry, hyperventilating a bit…) And Julie, I really want to read If I Stay before the movie comes out too! Lots of great books here — I hope you both enjoy!

come along LISA! haha. And I want to read If I Stay too. Which, I just found out last night that it is the June book for our book club, so I guess it is good that I want to read it soon, lol.
I was not a fan of The 5th Wave. I hope you enjoy it, Julie.
Rose, I have not pre-order Written in MY Heart’s Own Blood yet! OMG! I’ve waivering on which version to get. Sometimes with my BN membership I can get the hardback version cheaper than the electronic version if I’m patient, wait for it to hit the best seller’s list AND a coupon comes out. With Father’s Day just around the corner, I’m thinking a coupon might be on its way to my mailbox/inbox.
And personally, I preferred the audiobooks for the Ice & Fire series. And then I got to book 4 and they changed the bloody narrator! So now I’m stuck. We do own the physical books, but Roy Dotrice does such an excellent job at the different characters that I’m really waivering on whether to tough it out with the new narrator just to get to book 5.

whoa! What!? The narrator changes!? I did not know that was going to happen. I just finished the Clash of Kings, actually, but I am taking a little break (to relisten to all of the Outlander books, before reading MOBY, yes I said ALL) and I was not aware that the narrator was going to change on me for the fourth book… hmmm is the new narrator good??? This could be a problem for me. As for which edition to get for MOBY (Written In My Own Heart’s Blood), i say, get em all! lol
Yes, for The Feast of Crows the narrator changes! At least on used copy I picked up at Half Price Books. Maybe it’s been re-recorded? I see that Amazon has it listed as Roy.
Here’s an article:

It appears it was re-recorded. Hm, perhaps there is purchase I need to make!

I would have to agree on purchasing the other version with the same narrator. I think it would be very difficult to get into a different narrator reading the continuation of a series. That is like with the Outlander audio books, we have Davina Porter reading. She does a great voice for Jamie. The narrator for the Scottish Prisoner, which is a Lord John Gray book, is a man. He his voice as Jamie is just WRONG to me. lol
I was tempted to do a topic like this, but realized I never read my winter or spring books so it would be a little depressing. The 5th Wave should be one of mine though.

haha, Caitie, you’re funny. Well, make a smaller list, of only like 3 books say that you plan to read for summer… that should be doable, right? Besides, “soon” is a very subjective word, wink wink
Oh, I have GoT on my TBR list too, Rose. And Rome – well, that whole series. Julie, I LOVED, LOVED If I Stay. I read it like 4 years ago and I can still remember it vividly.

Brandee, I am glad you liked If I Stay. I will be reading it soon as well. And I really like GoT. I did not think it was be as good as it is. I def recommending going ahead and watching the tv series first, though. It helped me to visualize the characters whenever the POV is constantly changing.
Great topic! If I Stay was a book that I really loved, I’m really looking forward to rereading that before the book. I really want to read The 5th Wave and The Archived myself, have heard great things about both. I hope you both get to all these and enjoy them 🙂 Here’s my TTT, I went with my favourite mind-blowing endings.
