Top Ten Books People Have Been Telling You That You MUST Read (whether because they think it’s a “you” book or it’s just been generally recommended so often)
Rose’s List of Top Recommended To Her Books:
- Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi – I actually just read this last month for my YA for Adults Book Club… and it was okay…perhaps from everyone gushing about this book, it just did not live up to the hype for me. I even read the second book, but still did not get what all the fuss was about. Like I said, it was okay…. but nothing I would gush about. (sad face, cuz I really wanted to like it)
- Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James – okay I put off reading this FOREVER because I thought I knew what it was about… Well I was wrong. I did not know what this book was about and I was also wrong about thinking I would not enjoy reading this. I LOVED IT! in fact, I just finished reading book three today and I started the first one less than 2 weeks ago… so yeah, I really liked reading this books… perhaps because my expectations were so low, the book far exceeded them???
- Sookie Stackhouse novels – my good friend Jesse recommended this series to me. I have watched the first 4 seasons of Trueblood and read the first 4 books of this series. I really need to catch up, with the show and the books, but who has time!????
- Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent- Julie will not shut up about this series, so I guess I should read it. LOL. No, I actually do want to read it and I hope I like it.
- The Rules by Stacey Kade – my friend/fellow book club goer really wants me and Julie to read this, so I will. For book club next month.
Julie’s List of Top Recommended To Her Books:

Thanks, Brandee. Yeah, I want to read Soul Screamers and Bloodlines, too.
I can’t second the Throne of Glass recommendation enough. It’s currently my favorite YA series. Hands down 😉

LOL I had so many people try and get me to read 50 and oh it did not go well for me at all. I couldn’t even get past the first one. But I read erotica and bdsm and that was just not up to either of them for me. Glad you loved it though! Always nice to get a surprise like that.

anna, thanks! Sorry you did not like them. But yeah, a surprise is always great.

I remember reading Under the Never Sky and not being all that amazed by it either. I haven’t read the second book yet, but I just don’t remember being blown away by the first the way so many people are. I guess you can’t please everyone!

yeah, well, i finished the second one now too and am probably just going to stop at this point.
Oh, Julie, you absolutely must read Kushiel’s Dart. It’s one of my all-time favorites (and that’s a very short list).
