Rose’s Quote:
I love you more than I hate everything else.
–Neal to Georgie
(Landline by: Author Rainbow Rowell)
This is the quote used when he proposed to Georgie when they were still in college. And no, that is NOT a spoiler because this books starts out with Neal and Georgie married with children almost 20 years later. I like this quote because you have to really know Neal in order to see the beauty in what he is saying.

This is one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books about marriage! I feel like few books get an accurate portrayal of marriage, but Landline seems to sum it up pretty well. Thanks for linking to Quote Me Thursday!

LOL now I’m curious about this guy – sounds like he’s like my BF. My BF hates EVERYTHING – I call him an equal opportunity hater because he’s always grumbling. Of course, deep down he’s a softie, but he sure does hide it.

I didn’t even think of it like that, but you know, you are right!
Love this quote!
Thanks!
I read the quote and I wasn’t sure if it was a good thing or bad thing that he said that! Then I read your reasoning behind it, and now I’m intrigued! ? Thanks so much for sharing.

I felt the same way at first, Whitney. But once you get to know Neal more, you see how the quote is more good than bad.
That’s a good one! I had mixed feelings about Landline because I didn’t like Georgie much, but Neal definitely made up for it. I loved that he was the opposite of swoon-worthy.

Yeah, Rainbow Rowell tends to write her male protagonists as more real life than book boyfriend. But somehow, she makes us like them anyways. So there is hope for real life guys after all!
