For the most part my cynical viewpoint keeps me from believing Romeo, but I like this line because it lets the audience know that Romeo is aware of how fickle he sounds first lamenting over one chic and then instantly falling for another. Boys.

Such a cool idea for a feature — love it! 😀
And, um… small confession but I’ve NEVER read anything by Shakespeare. Well, anything not abridged, I mean. Kinda embarrassing, but yeah… From what I know of Romeo, though, I never would have guessed that he was actually aware of his flaws. He just seemed like your stereotypical perfect love interest. But that IS a lovely line from him. 🙂
Thanks for sharing, Rose!

yes, well Romeo HAS to admit that he was a bit of a depressing annoying love sick welp for the first few scenes of ACT I until he lays eyes on Juliet…
Haha, Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo is such a

I mean to say:
Romeo is such a fickle character, but I like how you picked a quote from Shakespeare and acknowledged what kind of character he was.

Thanks Sunny. Romeo was fickle… but he was also a character completely and utterly controlled by fate… so it wasn’t all his fault, right? Right.
Boys indeed! I’ve never read Romeo and Juliet. Is that bad? Seeing the many movies was enough for me to know that the play would trouble me. I have however read Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay which is an interesting take on the whole story. I highly recommend that one. Romeo Redeemed is the follow up which I have yet to read. Thanks for hosting 🙂 We look forward to this meme every week! ~ Bel
Yay! Glad you enjoy the meme. If you watched the movie, that’s the same thing as reading it since it is meant to be watched as a play anyway.
Not quite Julie, but I forgive you. 🙂 which movie did you watch? The Leonardo DiCaprio version is my fave.
I will have to check out those two… had not heard of them.. and you’re welcome… thanks for linking up!
Baaaaah Romeo and Juliet. I did love Shakespear’s prose/verse but maaaan I hated the romance in it though it was a very interesting portrayal of young love.
I find the romance hard to believe as well, but if you consider that we are suppose to buy into the whole idea that R and J were controlled totally by fate, then the romance is a little more believable and the love more emotionally charged for me at least.
Yeah, I liked Romeo and Juliet when I was a teenager. Now I am much more cynical and see it for what it is: two teenagers who were just rebelling against their parents and had no clue what love is.

I agree with you, that isn’t real love.
or being controlled totally by fate??? ( i dont buy this notion, but R and J both believed it!)
