Julie Review Avatar QUESTIONNAIRE

What’s your name? Well, I’m Julie (and my co-bloggers are Rose and Lynn).

Where in the world are you blogging from? The Houston, Texas area.

How did you get into blogging in the first place? I’ve been blogging for many years, but this book blog was Rose’s awesome idea. I started blogging in college cause that was the cool thing to do when ‘weblogs’ were just becoming popular.

How did you come up with your blog name? We wanted a name that had meaning to us from a  book we loved. A longer explanation is on our about page.

What genre do you read and review the most on your blog? The genre really varies. We read YA, NA, adult, romance, fantasy, dystopia, paranormal, etc. I personally seem to read and review more YA paranormal and fantasy.

What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews? We host a weekly discussion feature (Chat Between Chapters), a meme (That’s What He Said Thursday), as well as some general opinionated posts on reading and blogging. Oh and we’re hosting our own reading challenge this year (Shelf Love: A No Book Buying Challenge).

Best blogging experience so far? I think meeting authors is just the coolest thing ever. My most fun experience would have to be the trip Rose and I took to Portland for Colleen Hoover’s party.

Favorite thing about the blogging community? The friendship you can make with people anywhere in the world simply because you love the same books.

Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests? I enjoy watching TV and fangirling over my favorite show – Supernatural – and the yummy Jensen Ackles.

At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing? Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira. That song makes me want to get up and dance.

Ok I picked most of the questions from the list. Looking forward to making some friends 🙂

  1. Just getting around to saying hey! I already followed your blog, so I was checking out some of the newer ones first. A TON of people signed up for the #loveathon. What area of Houston are you from? (Did I ask you before?) I am in South Houston.

  2. Meeting authors is seriously something I always never thought would happen to me, so whenever I get the opportunity, I’m tickled pink! Also, Jensen Ackles is a very handsome man – he makes me smile when I see him goofing around in Supernatural outtakes or at conventions (via YouTube videos). And Hips Don’t Lie is a groovy tune!

    Thanks for joining the Love-a-thon!

You don’t have to stop buying books completely, just set up a budget and focus on books you already bought. So feel free to join if you think you can make it work 🙂

  3. I think it’s amazing how many awesome people I’ve met just because we all like books. It doesn’t even matter which books you like, just that you like books. I’ve met so many lovely people and I’ve created very solid friendships here.

I’m so sad that I’m too chicken to watch Supernatural. I’ve seen five episodes and it’s too graphic for me. Such a shame, because it looks fantastic and it’s really funny. And also, Jensen Ackles.

I don’t think the show is too graphic overall, but that might be due to watching even more graphic shows like Walking Dead heh.
