Social Media
How do you use social media to expand your blogging/writing horizons? Social Media is all about networking and connections, and utilizing today’s technology to the fullest. Make sure you mention your own social media pages. Do you have another blog, maybe a Tumblr? Have a Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook? Or maybe there’s an underrated social media program that you like.
Julie:
I’m on a lot of social media platforms, but I don’t use most of them very much. I’ve all but given up on Facebook – what’s the point if your posts are “served” to only a couple of people? Twitter I’m becoming more and more a fan of, but my timeline is insanity. I’m glad Twitter has a lists option, and I have my friends on a list and when I remember to check it, I can RT their stuff. Pinterest I’m very much addicted to, but not so much in a book blogging capacity as in an everything else capacity. I have an Instagram account, but I haven’t figured out how to use it for blogging purposes, since sharing a link via mobile attached to a photo seems complicated. I use it for personal purposes – like taking pictures of food and stuff. As for this blog – everything automatically shares to all 3 of our Twitters, our Facebook page, my Tumblr account (that I have no idea how to use) and our Google+ page (another platform I really don’t know much about). I also have a plugin that shares our reviews and discussions every certain number of hours on my twitter and our Facebook page. I haven’t found a way to have it share on multiple Twitter accounts, and don’t know if my co-bloggers would want to tweet that much anyway. Most of what I do on social media is automated because otherwise it would just take forever. I don’t do a good job of remembering to share posts otherwise. I do enjoy sharing other people’s posts, especially on Twitter, but sometimes I Buffer them (and my Buffer is linked to my Twitter, this blog’s Facebook page and Google+ page). Sharing is caring, after all.
All our blog’s social media (and personal twitter accounts) are on the sidebar so give us a shutout and let’s connect!
Great post. I do not have a FB page for my blog because it just seems like a lot of work to maintain and I am not sure I would have the followers to justify it. I do have Twitter and Instagram, but I only update very sporadically. I need to be better about it, but sometimes I just . . . forget. Ha

I totally know what you mean about forgetting. I have plugins to auto share everything so I don’t really maintain my FB pages heh.
Very informative, ladies 🙂 I don’t have time to use social media as much as I’d like, but I do what I can… Unfortunately there are only so many hours in the day, lol!

Definitely agree on the not enough hours in the day to do everything. I like that you’re choosing to interact with blogs more than social media 🙂
Facebooks new “boost” scam is one of the reasons why I recently gave up my page in exchange for a personal FB. The page also didn’t offer much interaction. I have to start taking advantage of Twitter lists.

Do you use your personal FB for blogging though? I don’t cause I’m friends with family and co-workers and others that might have no business being on my blog heh.
I get that. I actually don’t have friends and family on there. I have a family member who posts a blog just for family and we all keep in tough there and I am not in having high school and college friends in my business.

I tend to use Twitter and Instagram the most when it comes to social media. I just recently got on Facebook and made a page for my blog but I don’t like how my posts can only be “reached” by a certain amount of people.

Yea, facebook is disappointing everyone. I don’t know why people still bother with it. Instagram is great for book bloggers because you can take pictures of all the shiny books!
I’m not so good at using social media either. Facebook is the bane of my existence. 🙂 I do use Twitter more often. It’s more user-friendly, imo. I have a pinterest but don’t use it for blogging. I have been thinking of using Instagram…but again, more for personal use than for blogging. *ha*

I use Instagram and Pinterest for more personal than blogging too. I have to remind myself to pin my own posts lol
It’s Twitter that I’m most useless at. Wish I knew more about it. Maybe that’s something I should work on consistently this summer.

Twitter was confusing to me for several years before I started using it more regularly and things started to make sense.
