Let’s pretend we will have another author pick up where one left off. What characters would you love to see brought back by another author? Would you want to see them in a completely different world and style, or will you pick an author similar in style and genre to continue their story?
Julie:
I think it would be fun to see some of my favorite characters from one of my favorite YA paranormal series brought back by an author who writes one of my favorite adult paranormal series. Specifically, it would be fun to have Kaylee and Tod and the gang from Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent brought back by Jeaniene Frost (who wrote the Night Huntress/Night Prince series). Both authors write really fascinating paranormal worlds and a crossover like that would be fun.
Lynn:
Sticking with the fantasy theme here, I’d like to see a flip-flop of characters between Laini Taylor and Karen Marie Moning. Taylor’s world building in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series is both lush and realistic. I can easily visualize Karou, Ziri, and the other chimera. And I can only imagine the sexy times that Moning could bring to Karou and Akiva. I’m thinking there will be some serious sexy flying going on. As for the Darkfever series, I love the humor, sexy times, and especially Barrons. Add Taylor’s world building to the shadows and the living embodiment of evil that is the Sinsar Dubh would be astonishing.
I can’t think of any specific examples, but when I think about this type of thing, I’m usually wishing that a favorite picture book author would do a few books about a favorite characters’ childhoods or vice versa – that a favorite author would tell me about some favorite kids when they’ve grown up.

I’m not a huge fan of this. I prefer the original voice to stick with the original author. But it can be fun to hear about some old favorite characters again!
Those are really cool answers. I was only thinking about dead authors and who would I like to be brought back and by whom. But it’s true that there could be some serious fun going on if contemporary writers would mix up.
I definitely agree with Kaylee and Tod being brought back by Jeaniene Frost. 😀 And although I haven’t read Daughter of Smoke and Bone yet, I can see how that series and the Fever series would work well together. I can’t think of right off hand myself though. I’ll get back to y’all if I come up with something. 😉

I can never think of responses to questions like this – I just can’t think creatively enough to imagine how one author might handle someone else’s characters. LOL!

Luckily, Nicole, we plan ahead. Sometimes it takes me awhile to think of ideas as well!
Hmmm, what an interesting question. Well I really loved The Fault in Our Stars, I’d want to know how my favorite author Diane Chamberlain would handle those characters. She’s so great at writing emotional family dramas, I’d like to see where she’d take the FIOS characters.

Oh that’s a good one. I’m sure she would take us on another heart-breaking journey. Great pick!
