We’re starting a new feature here on Chapter Break called Chat About Covers. ‘Cause you know we all judge books by covers, whether we admit it or not. We judge the style, the color and font choices, and just the overall look. That might not keep us from reading the book, but we do still judge.
Oh my! Where to start! Yes, I’m with Lynn, WTF is that tied up body part? Or is it even a body part? Looks like somebody’s booty, but maybe it is actual booty, a bag of loot? Like a pirate’s loot? Is this a pirate book?
The creepy leery eye dude? Just no. Stop staring at me with creepy murder in your eyes. You’re not sexy. Even with the scruff. And does creepy dude have a neck? Or is he all facehead?
An airplane in the dessert? First I thought it was a pirate book. Now I’m thinking it is a space adventure cause of the Star King title. Wait, but that’s not a spaceship. Crap, I have no idea.
I like the font. That curvy texture to the letter N is kind of working for me.
I’ve been squinting at this cover for ten minutes now, trying to figure out what body part that is prominently placed in the middle. Leg? Torso? Arm? And not a body part belonging to the head? Because if it does belong to that head, that is some serious yoga bending.
The random plane makes some sense after reading the blurb. But am I supposed to believe the plane is flying into space?
I do like how the stars/sky are blending into the desert landscape. I think that’s well done.
What are your thoughts on this cover?
LOL My first thought was “Um, just no.” Y’all are right, there’s so much to choose from that’s just wrong with this cover. Ugh!

I think we’ll stick with just no, Brandee!
