We’re starting a new feature here on Chapter Break called Chat About Covers. ‘Cause you know we all judge books by covers, whether we admit it or not. We judge the style, the color and font choices, and just the overall look. That might not keep us from reading the book, but we do still judge.
This book is particularly bad. It has two covers, one on Goodreads and one on Amazon for Kindle, and both are horrendous, wouldn’t you say?
The one on the left looks like a bad Star Wars impression. WTF is up with that man’s face? And the chick just looks weird. What’s she looking at? The creepy man’s face?
The one on the right is the GoodReads version or the paperback cover on Amazon. It just looks like some bad illustration with the Sims. At least there’s no creepy man face.
Shaking my head at these covers.
The first thing that stands out for me is how the locations of the titles are switched. How am I supposed to know what the title is? Fomorian Earth? Star Borne: 1? Which one is it? And what happened to the Quest for Freedom tagline on the right side book?
Both characters on the right side cover appear “alien”, while on the left side, there is one alien and one human. Are we sure these are the same book?
Even as a sci fi fan, these covers do not draw me in.
What are your thoughts on this cover?
These both look horrifically Photoshopped and just … yeah, bad.

So true, Nicole!
Where do y’all find these hideous covers?? lol Maybe, just maybe the one on the right is a tad bit better…but yeah, they’re both pretty awful.

LOL I typically find them in the free book emails from things like Book Bub.
