No, key isn’t a euphemism, you dirty minded reader! Beau literally means the lucky skeleton key he found while rebuilding an old farmhouse. I like this quote because we can see how much Beau cares for Colette. He’s willing to give up his luck for her. And if you are curious, no, she didn’t loose it. She just left it at home this one day!
