PRAISE FOR THE SECRET ROOM:
EXCERPT FROM THE SECRET ROOM
BY JOHN ALEXANDER
“Any plans for today, Mom?” Amber asked.
“After breakfast I’m going to spend some time outside,” she said. “The house sits on four acres, and I want to explore the grounds. I also found out there’s a cemetery a few blocks away that dates back to the mid-1800s.”
Amber’s eyes got a little wider and she glanced over at me and then back to Mom.
“You’re not afraid of ghosts anymore, are you?” Mom asked.
“Not really,” she said. “But I prefer to not take any chances, like spending time around a cemetery.”
Mom shrugged. “Suit yourself, but you’re missing out on a great opportunity. There’s a lot of history buried in a cemetery.” She paused and smiled. “Pardon my pun.”
“You just have to dig deep to find it,” I added, and we all laughed.
