Here at Chapter Break, we don’t always write a full review of every book we read. Well, now we decided to do these monthly wrap-up posts with roundups of our reviews this month and mini-reviews to fill in the gaps. Enjoy!
Lynn:
Discovery of Witches is a re-read for me. And I am not normally a re-reader. Too many other books to read! But all the Instagram shots from the upcoming TV show really sparked my interest in re-reading. I loved this book as much the second time as the first. And this time, I can see the careful plotting that Ms. Harkness did to set up the next books in the series. And if you are wondering, here’s the teaser trailer! Matthew Goode definitely works for Matthew Clarimont if you ask me!
The Last Star (The 5th Wave #3): Meh. This was a bit anti-climatic for me. Maybe because it has be 17 months since I read Infinite Sea. Or maybe it was because I didn’t really find the resolution satisfying. Who knows. I will say this, though, loads of POV switches in this book. LOADS. If you aren’t into that, skip this. Also, Cassie is totally Abnegation.
Books we reviewed this month:
- [12 Jan] Flawed by Cecelia Ahern ★★★½
- [16 Jan] Into the Fire by Jeaniene Frost ★★★★
- [19 Jan] Outlander Season 3 by
- [30 Jan] Witch for Hire by N.E. Conneely ★★★½
I had no idea that Discovery of Witches was going to be a TV show! This year is a good time for me to finally get to it 🙂
Also, I need to get to the Fifth Wave series! The movie is on Netflix, taunting me…and I want to read it first!
