Let’s chat about the Author(s) you’ve read the most
Julie:
This was an interesting exercise. Did you know you could export your Goodreads shelves? This exports EVERYTHING. Then filtered only for my read shelves, and copied into another Excel workbook. Then I did some formulas to count the number of times the author’s name appeared and got some interesting numbers. This is the list of authors that I have read 10 or more books!
Rachel Vincent | 26 |
Darynda Jones | 17 |
Richelle Mead | 16 |
Julie Kagawa | 14 |
Jeaniene Frost | 13 |
Kerrelyn Sparks | 13 |
James Patterson | 12 |
Charlaine Harris | 11 |
Stephenie Meyer | 11 |
P.C. Cast | 10 |
These are all authors with a long series or several series that I have read most of the books. Some of these authors have standalone books that I have read or a first in a series but have not continued the series (some yet).
Am I surprised by this list? Not really. Some I forgot about, as the last book I read by them was some years ago (like James Patterson, I was on a crime kick but stopped reading the genre for a while). The others are all paranormal authors, which is my genre of choice. The reason Rachel Vincent is so high up on the list is she has a ton of novellas in her series that I have read, and it looks like Goodreads was also counting the box sets as well as the individual books.
Lynn:
Well, I was just going to list a bunch of authors that I felt I read a lot. But oh no. Julie’s has to go and get all fancy with her exporting of Goodreads. So, here’s my export as well!
Janet Evanovich | 37 |
Clive Cussler | 33 |
J.D. Robb | 23 |
Karen Marie Moning | 16 |
Elizabeth Lowell | 15 |
Matthew Reilly | 15 |
Jack Du Brul | 15 |
Jacqueline Carey | 13 |
Richelle Mead | 13 |
Cassandra Clare | 12 |
Elizabeth Peters | 12 |
Sophie Jordan | 11 |
Diana Gabaldon | 10 |
I did add the Jack Du Brul books that he’s co-authored with Clive Cussler. And didn’t add Colleen Hoover is at 9. I’m reading one of her books now.
Like Julie, I’m not surprised by this list. Multiple series. Long series. (Plus, I’ve been reading Clive Cussler since I was a teenager.) I am a bit surprised by Elizabeth Lowell, though. I feel like it’s been ages since I read one of her books.
I know this list says a lot about my reading tastes. Adventure. Romance. Fantasy. History. Plus I love me some Stephanie Plum. I am definitely an eclectic reader.
Now we’re wondering, do you have these kinds of stats? What authors are at the top of your read list?
