Here at Chapter Break, we don’t always write a full review of every book we read. Well, now we decided to do these monthly wrap-up posts with roundups of our reviews this month and mini-reviews to fill in the gaps. Enjoy!
So I’m not going to bore you with children’s books reviews here. I reviewed the book I finished this month, so you’ll see it among those below in the listy. Lynn and I are doing a buddy read on a recent Colleen Hoover book so you’ll be seeing us share about that soon, so I don’t want to share my thoughts yet.
When Dimple Met Rishi: Sweet, cute YA romance. But not overly treacle. I appreciate how well Dimple and Rishi compliment each other’s personalities. But like Dimple, I’m a bit weirded out by 18-year-olds finding their true loves and ready to be married. It does make me wonder if they will work out in the long term. Similar in vain to Anna and the French Kiss.
My Lady Jane: I have mixed feelings. It’s fine when I’m reading it, but, it’s not one of those can’t put down books. I’ve literally been reading this for the majority of July. I started with the book and switched to the audio when I wasn’t making any progress with reading. I’m a fan of the sardonic narrator and the clever Monty Python quips. I like the idea of throwing in some fantasy with the history. But I have no real connection to the characters. Jane and G. have a Ladyhawke-ish relationship that’s kind of dull if you ask me. I’ll call this one just ok.
Books we reviewed this month:
- [4 Jul] To Catch a Texas Star by Linda Broday ★★★★½
- [5 Jul] Oshun Rising by Jennifer Alsever ★★★★
- [16 Jul] Fury's Kiss by Nicola R. White ★★★★
It makes me feel better to see y’all aren’t getting much reading done either. 😉 I’m looking forward to your thoughts on CoHo’s latest – I’m hearing good things and I’m eager to read it. Lynn, I’m sorry My Lady Jane hasn’t kept your attention. It’s one I was curious about.
Bookworm Brandee recently posted…#COYER Mini-Challenge Day #3 ~ Are You Enjoying Your Romantic Suspense?
It’s probably not her latest, it’s semi-recent by a few years lol. I keep seeing new ones pop up so I’m sure we’re quite a few books behind CoHo’s publishing.
