Here at Chapter Break, we don’t always write a full review of every book we read. Well, now we decided to do these monthly wrap-up posts with roundups of our reviews this month and mini-reviews to fill in the gaps. Enjoy!

Julie Review Avatar Julie:

Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are so You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be I read this because of the hype. Sometimes peer pressure is good. It’s a bit heavier on the religious content than I’m a fan of, but that’s really my only complaint. The whole point of this book is to be a motivational slap in the face. Stop hiding, and chase your dreams! I listened to the audio of this one via my Audiobooks account (since hubby keeps using up all my Audible credits), and it was also narrated by the author. I loved how brutally honest she was about everything in her life, laying it all out there for us to relate and understand that if she can look herself in the face and tell herself to stop believing lies and be her best self, so can we.

365 Days of Happiness: Because happiness is a piece of cake! I received a complimentary copy of this book. The title intrigued me and being happy is one of my goals. While this book contains a bit more “woo-woo,” what it does is remind us to find happiness in every day, in every little action. In every smile. Even in every flower. We can find joy in every accomplishment and even in our failures as they teach us something new about ourselves and our goals.

Rogue Pirate’s Bride: Honestly, I was expecting a historical romance. There wasn’t a lot of romance, really. It’s more about getting revenge. Both the main characters are after revenge. Also, I’m not so much a fan of the guy not taking no for an answer when the girl says no. Or calling the girl ‘his cabin girl’, even if it is a joke. This book was definitely not for me. On a side note, this was the first ‘physical’ book I read in ages. Holding a book apart to read the pages is exhausting. I prefer my e-reader!

Miss Mayhem (Rebel Belle #2): Ugh. I really wanted to like this. But nope. Let’s break it down: 1) It’s been ages since I read the first book in the series and I could not recall a thing that happened. I struggled throughout the Miss Mayhem to care what happened to the characters. 2) Open-ended cliff hangers are not my thing. 3) Every other paragraph had a character rolling their eyes. Well, this is me. Rolling my eyes at Miss Mayhem. 🙄

Daughter of the Pirate King : I loved this! I adored the feisty lead characters, Alosa and Riden. Their flirty banter was fantastic. I especially loved the lady pirates! I especially loved the complete ending, with the hint of the next story. Audio narration was great as well. Highly recommended.
