This cowboy’s about to be branded….
For years, Karlie Kyle has had it bad for Luke McKade – wishing he’d see her as something more than just a shy girl in braided pigtails. But now that she’s all grown up, she’s ready to stake her claim and brand the heart of the sexy, smooth-talking cowboy who “can’t be tamed”.
Punched with lust from the moment he sees her again, Luke is shocked when he realizes that little Karlie Jo isn’t so little anymore. When she tempts him with a proposition he just can’t refuse, he’s happy to oblige – temporarily.
Karlie is willing to play along, but her heart is set on forever. As raw desire sparks something deeper, can Karlie convince Luke that rules are meant to be broken? Or will their passionate summer fling end with broken hearts instead?
Kimberly Lewis is the bestselling author of sweet, sexy contemporary romances filled with heart and humor. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two children.
Having caught the creative bug at an early age, Kimberly fully embraced her active imagination and grew up with a fondness for reading, drawing, and crafting stories. She eventually veered away from the art world to explore other career options, but a rediscovery of her love for the romance genre reignited that creative spark and—just like that—her first novel was published in 2011. Her stories are filled with humor, emotion, and a whole lot of love.

Author Interview with Kimberly Lewis
How did you select your narrator?
Tiffany (Williams) and I have actually been working together since 2015. I had reached out to her for the production of my book Norah (The McKades of Texas, Book 2). After searching and listening to so many audio samples, I finally stumbled upon hers and there was just something about her voice and narrating style really appealed to me.
How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process? Did you give them any pronunciation tips or special insight into the characters?
Since Tiffany and I have worked together on other books, I kind of just let her run with it ☺ She gets my writing voice and totally knocks it out of the park with every production. However, if I’m super passionate about a certain scene I will do my best to give her guidance on how I’d like it portrayed in the audio version. I think my favorite bit of guidance for Luke’s book was for the character Lance. For the sake of being professional, I won’t disclose the exact description I sent to Tiffany, but I basically told her that Lance is a real jerk and she should feel free to make him sound like one … which she did ☺
Were there any real life inspirations behind your writing?
I love adding bits and pieces of my life into each character and throughout the story, but I’d like to keep the specifics to myself ☺
Are you an audiobook listener? What about the audiobook format appeals to you?
Yes! I love audiobooks. They’re so convenient and really help pass the time in a pleasant way—especially during my morning commute.
If this title were being made into a TV series or movie, who would you cast to play the primary roles?
Justin Hartley as Luke and Karen Gillan as Karlie.
What do you say to those who view listening to audiobooks as “cheating” or as inferior to “real reading”?
Oh my gosh! Do people really say that? If they do I’d advise them to find a better mindset and not to belittle someone for how they enjoy books. This is almost like the whole ereader versus physical book debate. For the love of everything, people, it’s all the same string of words. Focus on that and not how the story’s delivered.
Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams?
Yes, but what happens in dreamland stays in dreamland 😉
What’s your favorite:
Food: Tacos
Song: At the moment it’s between Tequila by Dan + Shay or Space Cowboy by Kasey Musgraves.
Book: Infamous by Suzanne Brockmann
Television show: Right now it’s The Last Kingdom on Netflix. I’m OBSESSED.
Movie: Father of the Bride (1 & 2)
Band: I’m a lover of many types of music, so I really don’t have a favorite band or singer.
Sports team: I’m from Maryland so, Go Ravens!
City: I’ve not visited many places so it’s hard to say. I really enjoyed walking around New York when my husband and visited years ago, so we’ll go with that.
Do you have any tips for authors going through the process of turning their books into audiobooks?
Take your time. When your narrator sends you completed work, close yourself off from the rest of the world and listen to what they’ve sent you as you read along with the actual manuscript. This will help catch anything that might be a little bit off. And don’t be afraid to speak up. An open and honest relationship with your narrator will go a long way.
What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Do it for the love of writing and nothing else.
What’s next for you?
I have a novella planned as well as another full-length cowboy romance. Neither have passed the plotting/outlining stage, but I’m hoping to start writing again soon.
