Celebrating Douglas Adams. Don’t Panic! It’s #towelday!
Julie and I are always up for a Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy discussion.
Here are some reasons to love the work of Douglas Adams.
#1. Arthur Dent is an every person’s hero. He just wants to drink his tea in peace. And not have his house paved over by a new road. We can all certainly relate to that!
#2. Irreverent humor is just my style. From the dry as bones whit in the actual guide to the idea of an Improbability Drive to moody robots, I always find myself chuckling while reading these books.
#3. Humans, or really, Earthlings, are not the top of the intelligence food chain. Dolphins, mice, and probably even some Vogons beat humans in the smarts department.
Probably not Zaphod though. Trading in one of his brains didn’t really leave him much in the smarts department.
#4. Great quotes. So easy to apply to real life. Like this one:
“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.”
Here are some fabulous Douglas Adams quotes for writers.
#5. Cult following. 42 people. 42.
If you get it, you’re part of the cool club. Pop culture with a cult following is always interesting, great for jokes and referring to in and out of context in regular life.
Fun times for all. If you’re in the know.
