Let’s chat about why we’re thankful for books and reading.
Julie:
There are so many wonderful reasons to be thankful for books. Books are amazing.
Books let you experience worlds and ideas from the comfort of your recliner.
Books help you meet people who also love books – because book club people are the best people.
Books teach you things, in fun ways.
Books make us feel all the emotions so intensely.
Books let us share our interests with others. It is so awesome to read with a family member or a friend.
Books are pretty. They make great gifts. They make great decorations.
Books are great to collect – whether ebook or physical.
Lynn:
Well, Julie has a great list going of reasons to be thankful for books. Here is my list!
I’m thankful that books help me escape reality. Need a good cry? Or how about a laugh? Or how about a dystopia to rail against the establishment? All of these and more can be found in books! And even better is finding a book with everything in one place.
Books and readers are a community that I am thankful to be apart of.
E-books are great because I can carry around a full library without the weight. But e-readers make it difficult to spy on what others are reading. But whenever I am at a loss of conversation topics, I can always talk to someone about books. I can bring up the most recent book I finished. Or see what other people are reading that I might want to read as well.
Books are great companions. Being confined on a plane or at the airport is no fun, but having a book to read makes the time fly. Audio books make exercising or housework bearable.
How about you? What are you thankful for about books or reading?
All great reasons to be thankful for books!! I especially relate to audiobooks making boring tasks more bearable.
