Here at Chapter Break, we don’t always write a full review of every book we read. Well, now we decided to do these monthly wrap-up posts with roundups of our reviews this month and mini-reviews to fill in the gaps. Enjoy!
Catterfly Grows a Garden: Super cute book. We loved the first Catterfly so were looking forward to this one! Love the illustrations, the rhyming cadence of the story, and especially the little lesson on flower pollination.
Purrfect Magic (Whisker Witchcraft Book 1) Purrfect Magic was a cute fast read/listen. I enjoyed the audio narration, the voices and pacing were great.
The story, was more so-so. The ending kind of rushed and the reasons for the big bad weren’t really fleshed out. There could have been a lot more there to develop a good villain. Our main character is kind of entitled already and why she was picked by the cats as the protector, I am unsure. But the cats I liked, a lot. They were cute and silly as cats should be, and have some amazing abilities.
Overall a 3 star quick enjoyable book if you’re not looking for anything too serious and just want a fun urban fantasy adventure.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Audiobook Boom.
Warrior of the Wild: I was expecting Vikings, But got a YA Fantasy world instead. The idea and setting were original. The climactic fight at the end was very well written. I was entertained enough while reading it. But it wasn’t one of those books that excited me to get back to reading after taking a break. Rasmira could certainly hold her own against the other YA heroines that we’ve read. She’s intelligent, resourceful, and a bit prickly after some incidents at the beginning of the novel. She’d be Dauntless for sure. Soren is a typical YA Book Boyfriend, which isn’t a bad thing. But also isn’t very exciting when compared to others. Overall, I’m going with 3.5 / Average / Ok to read.
Fangirl: This was a reread for me. Or really, re-listen. Fangirl is one of my fav of all time books. It brings me comfort like a mug of hot cocoa and a warm, fuzzy, blanket. The audio narration is well done. The characters are fabulous. This is very worth checking out if you haven’t already.
