*I was provided a copy of this book as part of this tour*
If you’ve got a kindergartener or a young child of a similar age, you know that tying knots and bows is hard for their little fingers. My kiddo still can’t tie shoes – but he mostly lives barefoot anyway (or in flip flops). We’ve tried little wooden puzzles that have laces to practice tying, but it’s not easy at all.
This book is so special because it teaches important life skills all while sharing a fun story. Cleo Can Tie A Bow tells a fun story about a lovely little lady named Cleo, who loves all things with bows. To learn to tie a bow together, Ms. Durant tells a story of a bunny with very long ears, whose ears kept getting dirty and dragging on the ground, and a fox who helped solve the problem with a bow.
I also loved how the story comes with a few YouTube videos where you can hear the song of the rabbit and the fox who taught Cleo how to tie the bow.
The illustrations in Cleo Can Tie a Bow are absolutely stunning. The colors and characters are so vivid that they jump out of the book. No flat drawings here my friends. This book is a gold mine just for illustrations. The details are so crisp that these creatures and people look real.
My son and I enjoyed searching for all the bows on each page, and counting how many there were. There were some that were obvious and others that were more subtle, and it was fun to scavenger hunt for them all.
This is a great book for a follow-along and sing-along to practice tying a bow with our beloved characters.
