We’re starting a new feature here on Chapter Break called Chat About Covers. ‘Cause you know we all judge books by covers, whether we admit it or not. We judge the style, the color and font choices, and just the overall look. That might not keep us from reading the book, but we do still judge.
If you are anything like us, you are super excited for Talk Like a Pirate Day! And all things pirate for September. And then I saw a book that is vampires AND pirates. Well yes, we definitely need to discuss that one here on Cover Chat!
Oh wow, it’s a vampire! It’s a Pirate! It’s everything mashed up together.
I’m digging the creepy vampire fangs skull. That’s a nice effect.
The ghostly-looking pirate ship is interesting too. Especially with the bat wings, nice trope use. And the eerie clouds out at sea give an overall feeling of doom and gloom.
The font is fantastic! I love it, scary and firey and definitely eye-catching. The other font is crisp so it’s easy to read, good pairing.
Not sure I’d read this, but I would definitely flip it over or ponder the topic.
Creepy Vampire Skull – Check. Demon Wings as sails on a pirate ship – Check. Whoever designed this cover took the title VAMPIRATES and ran with it. And for that, I am glad!
I dig that Vampirates looks like flames. That is very cool! The rest of the title font and author’s name are easy to read and well placed on the cover.
As for that skull, the long incisors and eyes are super disturbing. Even the front (or is that the back?) of the ship is creepy looking. I’d want to take a hard pass on sailing on that ship.
I like the background with the clouds\storm. It certainly feels ominous.
This cover (and the title) certainly caught my eye!
What are your thoughts on this cover?
Wow…. a striking cover. You know right away it’s a different vampire book.
