Ready to learn the magic of science? Metals and all the other elements from the periodic table make everything seem magical. You can see it everywhere: in buildings, transportation, communications, medicines, and even in the food you eat! All technology and everything that makes life modern come from the magical elements in the earth, water, and the air.

Think of it like this, “No Metal – No Magic…and No Tech-no-lo-gy.” You can learn about all that stuff in this book called The Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically by The Metal Horn Unicorns. Twenty-six techno-magical elements are presented from A to Z by the magical metal horn unicorn tribe from Unimaise.

Every element page includes:
*where the featured element comes from*
*when it was discovered*
*scientific info about the element*
*everyday uses for it*
*a bunch of interesting facts*
*a unicorn who wields its magical powers representing each element*

The book also has an amazing unicorn-themed periodic table plus special pages featuring elemental compounds and alloys. Now, that’s Techno-Magical!

I participated in the previous tour we did with this lovely author and her amazing illustrated book, Cleo Can Tie a Bow Tour, and I had to join in this one too. STAHP with the gorgeous art. Wait, don’t stop.

Thanks to Sybrina Durant and Lone Star Book Blog Tours for making this tour post possible. You know I love to support our authors.

First impressions matter most, right? I’m very, very visual, and I love great book covers and illustrations inside books. But this author’s books are step, nope, several stories above the artwork I usually see.

I mean, just take a look at this!

I absolutely love the illustrations in her books – they are so vivid and so beautiful that it’s like you’re watching this book on the big screen at the movie theater. The colors and details are amazing. There’s no way they won’t catch your attention and make you want to find out more.

But on top of that, this author’s books teach something important. This one is great for early science learning – a wonderfully whimsical introduction to the periodic table of elements. Chemistry just got way more fun. And I love that each element is presented by a lovely unicorn, sharing the element that makes up its very horn. The book is laid out in an easy-to-read or skim way, letting early readers focus on the basics but also having a lot of information for those who want to learn everything!

This is a book you’ll want in print – don’t bother with the ebook. It really leaves a lot of the experience out. I have ebook regrets, can you tell? This is something that can be displayed on your desk (or a kid’s desk), even a great coffee table book for curious guests to have a bit of learning and whimsy.

Given that this is quite advanced for my 8-year-old, I only read a few pages with him. Just enough to give him the gist so he could give me his thoughts. He said while he doesn’t really like unicorns that much (boys) he loved the horns and each one being a special metal element. He thought it was a very cool and clever idea. He also loved how each page looked different and unique with the borders showing the element. He overall said he’d give this book a 9.5/10 so I’d say he thinks it’s quite well done 🙂

  1. Thank you for your amazing review and for letting your readers know about Magical Elements of the Periodic Table Presented Alphabetically By The Metal Horn Unicorns.

  2. LOVE this review — you’re positively gushing about the book. Can’t wait to get a look at it (in print, of course) and dive in. I loved chemistry in high school, so I’ll betcha I’ll love this book too. Thanks for sharing.
