Here at Chapter Break, we don’t always write a full review of every book we read. Well, now we decided to do these monthly wrap-up posts with roundups of our reviews this month and mini-reviews to fill in the gaps. Enjoy!

Find Your Unicorn Space: Reclaim Your Creative Life in a Too-Busy World Definitely a good and important reminder of how we all need to find our personal unicorn space – what makes us feel fulfilled. But the book felt repetitive and maybe didn’t need to be as long, reminding us again and again. Some of it felt like it comes from a place of privilege. Not everyone has the capacity and the support to pursue passion projects. I did enjoy some of the examples though.

Storm and Fury (The Harbinger Series Book 1) I grabbed this book on sale because I had it on my wishlist for a while. It took a little time for me to vibe with the MC, she was kinda bullheaded. But as we get into the story and learn who she is and what she is, it gets really interesting. The last bit with the betrayals and the reveals and all the big bombshells is so worth the read and I’m going to have to buy the other books in the series I guess.

Slayers: A Buffyverse Story This was a good listen because of all the nostalgia. I loved revisiting the characters from the show. It was wonderful to hear their voices again, especially Spike and Druscilla! Dru is one of my favorite characters. It was a great audio with a full cast, but I feel like they went overboard with it. I mean, I could totally do without some of the awkward sound effects – panting, screaming, moaning, etc. Not necessary. The plot was interesting with the multiverse and characters that are dead in our world are alive in another. Not a super strong plot, but enough to keep me entertained. Some spark from the original series was missing, but I liked the new friendships forged and room for future adventures.

Not a lot of mini reviews for me this month. I read a bunch of review books this month. And listened to the podcast Your Mama’s Kitchen. (It’s great. Check it out!)

There is A LOT to unpack in this book. To say that Boulley’s work should be required reading for any\all anthropologists would be an understatement. This time around, we have NAGPRA and MMIWG. Both of these are complex subjects. And Boulley doesn’t pull punches, much like our main character, Perry. I also appreciated the team of Misfit Toys. All of the characters are developed and individuals. The book is a powerful, don’t want to put down read. Isabella Star LeBlanc continues her amazing narration. Highly recommended. Especially on audio. Read this! And Firekeeper’s Daughter if you haven’t already!
