Watch out! It’s Nolan!

Watch out! It’s Nolan! is a five-time category and special award winner from the Outstanding Creator Awards.

Bullying is NEVER okay.

But what if you had a magic whiz to help you deal with those who treat you badly?

Unpopular Nolan has his wishes come true when he happens upon a benevolent but bumbling accident-prone whiz. However, not all is as it seems…

Nolan, his mother, his schoolyard bully Edy, and his teachers are all suddenly swept into magical hijinks – so much so, that Nolan finds that he might have to fix the problem himself. Put in the position where he needs to decide if he will learn a valuable lesson or if he will become the hero he needs to be, Nolan learns that the best way to confront his problems is by standing up to them and expressing how he really feels.

This book is packed with moral lessons and symbolic storytelling that will teach your child:

  • The importance of standing up for yourself
  • The importance of opening up about your feelings, no matter how negative they may be
  • How making decisions, whether big or small, can improve our lives
  • The pitfalls of comprising and putting up with bad behavior
  • How a bad attitude can transform with the right intention and proactiveness
  • How kindness can change the world

A fun children’s story for ages 5 to 9 that raises awareness about bullying while encouraging self-esteem, mental strength, toughness, confidence, and fearlessness!

Dark Joseph Ravine Interview Questions

Do you identify with your main character, or did you create a character that is your opposite?

I personally identify with my main character, Nolan, because over my lifetime I had been bullied and in toxic environments of people who clearly did not care about the pain of people. In the end, all those people suffered for the pain they caused me like how Bolton kept making bad things happen to anyone who would bully Nolan. I wrote this children’s book also for grown adults such as parents, teachers, educators, etc. to help them become more understanding of children and possibly make the future generation better. I always say a little understanding goes a long way for people, however I only believe the adults have the power to make things better or worse.

Describe the book in 10 words or less for people just learning about it

The words to describe my book are, unprofessionalism, misunderstood, lonely, self-defense, fearless, educational, unity, and karma.

Is there anything you would like people to take away from your book?

The main idea that I would like for people to take away from my book is for educators and parents to be understanding of backstories of children and find out why something is the way it is. Even though I say help the future generation be better, I only believe it can come from grown adults only. The grown adults in my life growing up were not very understanding so that is why I hope that my book teaches them a little understanding comes a long way.

What has been the toughest criticism you have received as an author? What has been the best compliment?

The toughest criticism I have received as an author was that my book is not really for an 5-9 audience, which is something I do agree with, but the way I look at it is that my book was more a book dedicated to adults who deal with or have children because they are the only ones who have the authority to teach and help them. The best compliment I have received was that the book is really making a difference for a lot of people as it was a five-time award winner.

Share some advice for aspiring authors. What advice would you give to your younger self?

The best advice I would give to aspiring authors is to try to make your book more in a way that is about helping others that way, it will serve more of a purpose of why you are an author. I dedicate my life to helping others, but the best advice I would give to my younger self is how can I help others with what I have to offer? My current book does not really help people beneficially, but it does teach people of all ages the importance of understanding situations. I only learned this year that life is never about me and it is about helping as many people as possible so that is what I do now with everything I do.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

As of this point, I own my own marketing agency to help people go viral on social media. I have always loved marketing, but I never really took it seriously until now. From my understanding, I think celebrity and fame has no real existence it is all just marketing. If you think about it, when you write a book, you are sharing with the world your beliefs so that’s a form of marketing. When you sing, you are entertaining people to know about you and what you do therefore that is as well marketing. I truly believe everything done in the public eye is marketing.
