For the extraordinary people of Chimera Connections, love is more than a human experience—it’s a soul-deep bond that transcends the physical and spiritual realms. Their gifts amplify the intensity of their connections, making the need for their fated-mate impossible to ignore. For some, the journey to love is instantaneous and perfect. For others, it’s a battle of wills, trust, and serendipity. When the pull of a soulmate becomes undeniable, will they surrender to the power of love—or resist the destiny that calls to them?

10 Things I’ve learned about writing and polishing a book.
- Writing is a marathon, not a sprint – Patience is key. It takes a long time to write your first book. Be careful not to publish it so quickly that you don’t do a proper editing.
- The first draft is supposed to be messy – Don’t worry about getting everything right the first time. It’s better to get the words down and go back later to strengthen your writing.
- Writing consistently is more important than inspiration – Daily habits are more powerful than waiting for the “perfect moment.” As a teacher, I had to go to work and deal with students who had various needs. I did that whether I “felt” like it or not. Writing is the same thing. Stick to your routine of writing even if you don’t “feel” like it.
- You will face self-doubt – Everyone experiences it, and it’s a part of the journey. Use your insecurity as a tool to improve your writing. I don’t even think about publishing a book until I’ve had 7 read-throughs that I use for building the scenes, characters, plot… Each edit should give you a better story.
- The importance of strong characters – Characters often drive the plot, so creating relatable, deep ones can make a huge difference. In each editing stage, I’m always adding to my characters (background, personal struggles/achievements…).
- Writing is rewriting – The real magic happens in editing. Don’t underestimate the value of multiple revisions. I edit/revise a story at least 7 times before publishing. It’s a process.
- Read a lot – Reading across genres and styles sharpens your writing and expands your understanding of what works. Read the type of authors you’re trying to write like (romance: suspense/humor/contemporary). You writing can begin to emulate their skills/wording.
- Set realistic goals – Writing is hard work, so set achievable goals to avoid burnout. Life is still swirling around you, throwing everyday struggles and responsibilities. Don’t forget to make family a priority. If you can only write for an hour a day, do it. I try to spend 3 or 4 hours a day on my writing. You don’t have to do an 8-hour day. Do the writing because you love it.
- You don’t need a big publisher to succeed – Many authors thrive through self-publishing or hybrid publishing routes. Look for ways to self-publish. I use Amazon KU and love it.
- You’ll have to market yourself too – Building your author brand and an online presence is as important as the writing itself. Look for online reading groups of authors and readers. You will learn a lot from other authors’ experiences. Building a newsletter is a priority. I’ve been writing for 10+ and have just now figured out how to build a newsletter that will give me a following that I can email. I use Substack for my weekly newsletter. I use Bookfunnel to join promos and swaps that share my books with thousands of readers.
If you’re a writer, good luck as you go down the path. You’ll make some friends along the way, dodge a few troublesome reviews/mishaps, but you’ll make it. Keep writing if that’s where your heart is.
Sincerely,
Cherish
