WOW! WOMEN ON WRITING TOUR of
Lost Heart in King Manor By Celeste Fenton

Lost Heart in King Manor: Book One in the Mysteries of a Heart Series
Book Summary
Some secrets are worth killing for.
And some hearts don’t break quietly.
At 45, Gabby Heart isn’t looking for drama—just quiet days on Dost Island running her village gift shop, teaching art, and keeping her past tucked safely away. But when her mother suffers a sudden health crisis, Gabby is pulled into a storm of family secrets, betrayal, and a dark legacy buried within the walls of the once-grand King Manor.
What was supposed to be a safe place for her mother’s recovery becomes the backdrop for a chilling mystery. Strange incidents begin to unfold, and it becomes clear: someone inside King Manor has a deadly agenda.
As a hurricane traps Gabby inside the sprawling estate, she’s forced to work alongside two very different men—her maddeningly attractive officemate and a charming new neighbor, both hiding dark secrets. One man may want her heart. The other may want her dead.
But can she trust her instincts before it’s too late?

Guest Post: Publishing at 69! It’s Never Too Late for a Story
By Celeste Fenton
In 2021, I lost my husband. It was a heartbreak that split my life into before and after.
In that quiet, aching “after,” I realized something that I had been ignoring for years: time wasn’t waiting for me. If I was ever going to write the book that had been percolating in my brain and heart for decades, I had to start—now. Not someday. Not “when things calm down.”
Now.
The truth was, I’d been holding myself back. Not because I didn’t have ideas—but because I was afraid. Afraid I’d fail. Afraid no one would care. Afraid of the sting of rejection.
I gave myself a much-needed pep talk. It wasn’t particularly gentle. I told myself, Get over it. Get over the fear. Get over the idea that the perfect time would magically appear. If I wanted to write this story, I had to stop imagining it and actually do it.
So, I sat down, and I wrote. And wrote. And wrote some more. I didn’t let myself edit too much at first, I just let the words tumble out, imperfect and unpolished. The more I wrote, the more the fear loosened its grip. And when I finally found the courage to share my work, something unexpected happened: people really liked it. They connected with my characters, they turned the pages, they told me they couldn’t wait for the next one.
Publishing my first novel at 69 wasn’t just a personal victory—it was proof that creativity has no expiration date.
I often hear people say, “I wish I had time to write,” or “I’ve always wanted to paint,” or “Maybe someday I’ll try photography.” My advice? Don’t wait for “someday.” Someday is a moving target, and it has a way of never showing up. Steal the time if you have to—ten minutes before the coffee brews, half an hour after everyone else has gone to bed, a weekend afternoon that you block off just for you.
And please, let go of the idea that you have to be fearless before you start. You don’t. You just have to be willing to create despite the fear. Fear can ride along in the passenger seat, but it doesn’t get to drive.
Whether your art is a short story, a memoir, a watercolor painting, or a quilt, it matters. It matters because it’s your voice, your perspective, your creativity made real. And it’s one of the most meaningful legacies you can leave for your family and the generations that follow—a piece of you that will exist long after you’re gone.
If there’s a story in you—and I believe there is—give yourself permission to tell it. Start small if you need to but just start. You’ll surprise yourself. I certainly did. After all, there’s no age limit on creativity. The only limit is waiting too long to begin.
So now it’s your turn. What’s the creative dream you’ve been tucking away for “someday”? Dust it off. Give it a little air. I’d love for you to share it in the comments—because saying it out loud is the first brave step toward making it real. Or post on my blog at https://celestefenton.com.

Author of the Mysteries of a Heart series
About the Author, Celeste Fenton
Celeste Fenton holds an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in education and has over thirty years’ experience in higher education. Her writing is fueled by a lifelong love of mystery, a fascination with the complexities of the human heart, and just enough real-world experience to keep things interesting. A widow, mother of adult twin sons, proud grandmother, dog lover, and semi-retired professor living in Florida, she weaves imagination with insight to create stories that are both emotionally rich and laced with suspense.
When she’s not writing, reading, or plotting her next twist, she’s often off exploring small towns across America—setting out solo for month-long adventures, much to the awe (and occasional alarm) of friends and family. Her latest obsessions include escape rooms, mastering the perfect miter cut for a DIY bathroom remodel, and making the impossible decision of where to travel next.
