Author Guest Post: Purr-fectly Amazing Cat Facts
I hope you all enjoyed the summer and you’re settling down for some great fall reads.
I’ve always been fascinated by cats and when I was younger, I had quite a few feline pets. In this guest post, I’d like to share FIVE amazing facts about these adorable creatures.
Fact #1: Super-Duper Senses
Cats have incredible superpowers when it comes to their senses. Did you know their ears can rotate almost 180 degrees? That means they can swivel their ears to pinpoint exactly where a tiny mouse (or your rustling snack bag) is, even if it’s behind them. Cats can also see six times better than humans in dim light. This is because they have a special reflective layer in their eyes that helps them gather more light. This is perfect for night-time adventures.
Fact #2: Acrobats Extraordinaire
Have you ever seen a cat squeeze into a tiny box or jump super high onto a shelf? That’s because their bodies are like amazing gymnasts. Cats have incredibly flexible spines with 53 vertebrae (humans only have 34!). This makes them super bendy and allows them to twist and turn, which is why people often say cats are liquid.
Fact #3: The Secret Language of Purrs and Meows
Most people think cats only purr when they’re happy, but that’s not always true. Cats also purr when they’re scared, hurt, or even giving birth. Scientists think it might be a way for cats to heal themselves because the vibrations can help bones and muscles repair. And what about meows? Adult cats mostly meow to talk to humans, not other cats. Kittens meow to their mums, but once they grow up, they learn that it gets our attention.
Fact #4: Whiskers are Their Super-Sensors
They’re not just for decoration. Whiskers (or ‘vibrissae’) are like super-sensitive antennae. They’re rooted deep in a cat’s skin and are connected to nerves and blood vessels. Cats use their whiskers to feel their way around, especially in the dark. They can tell if they can fit through a narrow space, detect changes in air currents, and even ‘see’ objects close to their face.
Fact #5: Every Nose is a Unique Masterpiece
You know how humans have unique fingerprints? Well, cats have something similar: unique nose prints. Just like no two human fingerprints are exactly alike, no two cat nose prints are the same. Each cat has a one-of-a-kind pattern of ridges and bumps on their nose. Isn’t that a cool, lesser-known fact?
Cats are not just cute and cuddly. They’re also full of amazing secrets and superpowers, so it’s not surprising that I’ve launched a new series featuring a rescue cat.
Gonzales The Street Cat
Gonzales has a hard life on the street, eating kebabs from plastic bags, not knowing if he’ll find a peaceful place to sleep. Once, he adopted some humans, but they abandoned him. However, he hasn’t given up hope. One day, he discovers two humans who offer food, strokes, and a comfortable place to snooze. He wants to take a chance on them, although little does he know how much his life will change…
Based on a true story and told from a feline perspective, this heart-warming and amusing tale will suit fans of ‘Garfield’ or ‘The Travelling Cat Chronicles.’
Kitty May Gruchelska loves creating fantastical worlds for her readers, full of diverse and quirky characters. In a past life, she was probably a cat because she likes tuna, dislikes water, and frequently knocks things over, but luckily, she has nine lives. Kitty May teaches in a magical desert kingdom full of sunshine, camels, and rice dishes. She loves travelling, which also inspires her to write.

This virtual book tour post truly captured the heart and spirit of Gonzales the Street Cat! 🐾 I love how this story brings to life the journey of a spirited street cat with a mix of humour, courage, and heartwarming emotion — told from Gonzales’s own perspective. It’s rare to find a book that both young readers and adult animal lovers can enjoy, and this one seems to strike that balance beautifully.
The way Gonzales navigates life on the streets, builds friendships, and ultimately faces the choice between his old ways and the comfort of a loving home is deeply moving and inspiring. It’s wonderful that the book tour is helping more readers discover this tale of resilience and companionship. I’m especially intrigued by how the author uses a feline voice to explore themes of belonging and trust — something many of us can relate to, regardless of species!
Looking forward to reading more about Gonzales’s adventures and seeing how fellow readers respond — this definitely sounds like a must-read for anyone who loves animals, adventure, and stories with heart.
