We love recaps around here, they’re right? Check out our 2025 reading from My Year In Books website and using Goodreads.

2025 in Books

Wait.. before we start.. let me just say Goodreads was drinking too much ‘nog and says I completed 109 books for the year, but counts all 157 in my challenge for the year. So… discrepancy follows:

Here is my 2025 Year In Books from the best recap site (my year in books):

My Year In Books 2025 1767199666558

The aura is perfect and delicious! A decadent chocolate strawberry romantasy. Yea that describes what I like to read!

I would like to see the genres broken down a little more specific but this works for a good quick recap!

Here’s also my Goodreads 2025 Year In Books Recap:

See, this says 108 books. And by the end of the year I added one more for a total of 109 (which I believe is the accurate count).

And this says 157! Please explain your math Goodreads?

I think I figured it out. This thinger is ALSO counting books marked read on my kindle. I found books with no data on GR but data from Kindle. So it’s double counting if it’s an ARC sent to my kindle and not a kindle book. HELP! Is there a way to turn this off? I don’t want to manage these each time!

Gotta love that JUMP from 5 books in July to 14 books in August. December is a lie since the update happened before the month concluded. But the total was 10.

I record all the books read, so those for book club, those for review, those with my child, etc. Gotta count them all!

I love that Goodreads emails you these images but I wish they had them on the website too and they updated as you finish more in December! Giving me these mid-way through the month doesn’t help! I have more books to complete!

Here are some more Goodreads stats:

  • Average book length in 2025: 324 pages
  • Longest Book: 768 pages (A Court of Silver Flames)
  • Most Shelved: 4,957,920 people also shelved (A Court of Mist and Fury)
  • My average rating for 2025:  3.7 stars
  • Highest Rated on Goodreads: 4.76 average (Fourth Wing)

Julie clearly won the who read more books contest. I should stop doom scrolling on my phone and read more next year.

Here’s my year in books. Lots of romantasy! Lots of mystery. And those romance books clearly cross other genres.

And yeah – chocolate strawberry romantasy does cover the majority of 2025 reading.

And here’s my Goodreads Year in Review:

I read a lot more shorter books this year, which helps in the book count. But looking at some dang big books for 2026 has me a bit worried about that total book count!

  1. I had some issues with Goodreads marking books twice for me when I read them on my Kindle and that was so annoying! I noticed it as I went along though and was able to delete them when it happened. I don’t know what setting causes it though sadly. Great job and some great books here! Here is to a good 2026 of reading too!
