Calladia Cunnington curses the day she met Astaroth the demon, but when he shows up memoryless, why does she find him so helpless . . . and sort of hot?

Calladia Cunnington knows she’s rough around the edges, despite being the heir to one of small-town Glimmer Falls’ founding witch families. While her gym obsession is a great outlet for her anxieties and anger, her hot temper still gets the best of her and manifests in bar brawls. When Calladia saves someone from a demon attack one night, though, she’s happy to put her magic and rage to good use . . . until she realizes the man she saved is none other than Astaroth, the ruthless demon who orchestrated a soul bargain on her best friend.

Astaroth is a legendary soul bargainer and one of the nine members of the demon high council—except he can’t remember any of this. Suffering from amnesia after being banished to the mortal plane, Astaroth doesn’t know why a demon named Moloch is after him, nor why the muscular, angry, hot-in-a-terrifying-way witch who saved him hates him so much.

Unable to leave anyone in such a vulnerable state—even the most despicable demon—Calladia grudgingly decides to help him. (Besides, punching an amnesiac would be in poor taste.) The two set out on an uneasy road trip to find the witch who might be able to restore Astaroth’s memory so they can learn how to defeat Moloch. Calladia vows that once Astaroth is cured, she’ll kick his ass, but the more time she spends with the snarky yet utterly charming demon, the more she realizes she likes this new, improved Astaroth . . . and maybe she doesn’t want him to recover his memories, after all.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Full of witty dialogue and steamy sexual tension, the novel unfolds at a steady pace and draws the reader in. Though this is only her sophomore effort, Hawley is bound to become a staple for readers of paranormal romances. Recommend to fans of Katie MacAlister, Lana Harper, and Molly Harper.”—Library Journal, starred review

"I devoured this story! Each book in this series gets better, too. It's fun and rompy and full of fantastical shenanigans. I love the message—that a heroine who thinks she's 'too much' is perfection in her hero's eyes. The hero Astaroth is book boyfriend crack. He was made for readers like me—he's utterly gone for the heroine the moment he meets her, he's a villain (swoon), and he's willing to burn down the world just to impress her. Hard not to fall in love with a hero (villain?) like that! I also loved that Sarah Hawley's stories feel like she's taken Kresley Cole's expansive worldbuilding and plopped it into a small town. You get the cozy vibes mixed with the fun of the different magical races clashing. Can't wait to read the next one!"—
USA Today bestselling author Ruby Dixon

"
A Demon's Guide to Wooing a Witch is a deliriously sexy romp, featuring my own personal brand of fiction kryptonite: a kick-ass heroine who puts the bad boy in his place, only to have him fall in love with her for it. Hawley has a unique talent for comedic writing, and Astaroth and Calladia are as hilarious together as they are smoking hot. I hope this series never ends!”—Jenna Levine, USA Today bestsellingauthor of My Roommate is a Vampire

"The tension between Calladia and Astaroth is pulled so tight that it's practically vibrating."—
Kirkus Reviews

“Sizzlingly sexy, endlessly imaginative, and laugh-out-loud funny, this is one of the most enjoyable paranormal romances of the year.”—Booklist, starred review

The title says it all. I quickly fell in love with this book after an accidental purchase. My only complaint is that it ends a touch abruptly. It would benefit dramatically from an epilogue letting us take a peek back in to see how and what our sassy duo is doing after the dust settles.

I loved the characters so much. I loved that this was very much their own story while still bringing in everyone from the first book in the series. I can’t wait to read the 3rd book once it’s released. I pre ordered it before finishing this one and I’m so glad I did.

Loved seeing the growth from the first book in the series but it was very zero to sixty on the feelings in the relationship.

Sarah Hawley creates beautiful characters and even more beautiful romance stories

Astaroth and Calladia are not your usual love interests but that just made this entire story all the more lovable

Calladia is wild and brash with strong masculine features. Astaroth sees those qualities and falls in love with them.

I also that he is a short king. It’s everything to me.

The brawl with the werewolves was my favorite part. Both of them admiring each other as they kicked wolf butts

I can’t wait for the next book!

Also, I hope Themmie gets a book too!!

I was so looking forward to this book after reading A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon. It was such a fun romance, and so is A Demon’s Guide to Wooing a Witch. It’s comical and has amazing banter, and the enemies-to-lovers romance is fabulous.

The villain of the first book is the main character in this one, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about him, but I ended up really liking him! Astaroth has a great redemption arc, and he changes a lot while he has amnesia. I enjoyed his story as he tries to figure out who he is, why he’s being hunted, and more. There are a lot of layers to Astaroth, and now that he’s stripped of his memory, he can’t use it as a wall to keep up the ruthless deal-maker reputation he’s curated. Though he’s still pretentious and a bit snooty, he is also really caring and thoughtful. It’s like having amnesia gave him the opportunity to be a better version of himself, though he’s not let off easily. Astaroth has to face his mistakes and those he hurt, especially Oz (loved this part), and he has to prove that his change is sincere.

Astaroth’s story also highlights the political unrest on the demon plane and the prejudices and extremism that parallel real-life situations. It’s an interesting plot that ties in some of the events that happened in the first book quite cleverly.

Calladia is pretty great, too. She’s prickly and combative and never backs down from a fight. In fact, she likes to start them. But she’s not as cold and hard as she pretends to be. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have rescued and helped the demon she and her friends recently defeated. And as much as she hates Astaroth, she reluctantly also finds him pretty attractive. And when he calls her his warrior queen…Whew! Calladia fights her feelings so hard, much to Astaroth’s delight.

Astaroth finds Calladia’s strength, snark, and prickliness attractive, which I loved, especially since not many people accept her wholly and completely. The banter, the sarcasm, and the bickering - there’s more than one laugh-out-loud moment between them. And can we talk a bit about Astaroth’s views on sexuality, autonomy, consent, and being one’s authentic self? My word, what a marvelous demon! By the end of the book, I totally forgot about how much I disliked him before, and I was rooting for his redemption.

This is a fun addition to the series, and I loved seeing the characters from the first book and how their lives are progressing in the fabulous Glimmer Falls. Special thanks to Berkley and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

I really enjoyed the story. It has spice and adventure and political intrigue of demon realm. I love the development of the romance and the adventure that FMC and MMC went on together and spice was done great.

“I think you’d like other games, too. We can play them, if you like. The game where I tie you to a bed and test you for hours…”

Calladia can’t stand Astaroth especially after what he did to her friend. However, when she finds him helpless and suffering memory loss, she can’t help but assist him at least until he has his memory back. However, Astaroth has plenty of enemies and Moloch in particular is out to get him. Calladia and Astaroth set out to try and retrieve Astaroth’s memories, so they can stop Moloch before Moloch eliminates Astaroth. As they spend more time together, Calladia discovers the new version of Astaroth may be the best thing that’s happened to her and maybe it would be best for his memories to stay gone.

While I enjoyed the first Glimmer Falls novel by Hawley, I think Hawley’s writing and storytelling vastly improved in this second installment. Despite Astaroth being a perceived villain especially after the events of the first story, Hawley writes in such a way that you’ll connect with him, understand him, and maybe even find yourself rooting for him. Then you’ll question yourself since you were rooting for Calladia to kick his butt in the first Glimmer Falls story. The way Astaroth supports Calladia is truly special. He helps her not only accept herself as she is, but he also helps her understand the importance of setting boundaries in toxic situations even if it hurts. Additionally, just the sheer chemistry and the dialog between these two is off the charts. I love Astaroth’s up for anything Calladia wants to try attitude. I also really appreciated that Hawley made sure to include the internal struggle Calladia faced between her feelings for Astaroth and being a good friend. If you’re interested in paranormal romance stories, I recommend adding this one to your list.

I've been so excited to get to the sequel of A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon and ordered it immediately on release date. I read this immersively, with the audiobook narration, and I really enjoyed the narrator, I thought she did a great job especially with the difference in accents!
We definitely got to know Calladia a lot more than in the first book (where I will admit I wasn't a big fan) and I really empathised with her regarding her relationship with her mother. I absolutely loved Astaroth as the male love interest. I don't frequently highlight quotes but I did this time, I was giggling, kicking my feet, blushing, his dialogue was so good. As someone who lives in the UK I also loved the use of "w*****" 😂 I loved the romance between this unlikely pairing and I think the pacing was great throughout the story.
I also enjoyed the politics of the story and plot development, similar to the first book, I think Sarah Hawley writes romance with a good plot running throughout so it never gets stagnant.
I love this series and I'm highly anticipating the next instalment (although I am gutted it's not Themmie's story!).
