M.C. Sungaila lives and works in Orange County, California, where she grew up. Her mother does too.

M.C. is an accomplished appellate lawyer, honored for her sustained commitment to community service and pro bono work. In 2017, she was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for her combined professional achievements and humanitarian and pro bono work. "Mother's Thoughts for the Day" is her first nonlegal book and a 2020 IPPY Silver Medal winner. Ms. Sungaila does a powerful job of compiling words of wisdom and support she received from her mother during her college years. In this, her second book, she lovingly shares her mother’s inspirational, motivational and supportive words. As other reviewers have noted, it’s a great book for boys and girls of all ages, and I have to say a wonderful reminder for those of us having our moments when we fall off track and may need motivational words to guide us. It’s certainly been a great for me over the last month of this pandemic. Anyone who picks this book up should gain something from it. A great tribute to Ms. Sungaila’s mother! Bravo!

It would take superhuman qualities to sidestep the challenging thoughts that we're all facing during the covid pandemic. MC Sungaila's second compilation of quips from her mother are a first-rate elixir for handling those thoughts. A flip through the first several pages changed my mindset in an instant and put my focus on what I can personally control and on taking pride for how I conduct myself in response to things I can't control. This is just a great buy -- an excellent gift to yourself or to someone you care about.

Beautiful book full of inspiring quotes and commentary—Just as with the first book I read it from cover to cover immediately! Now I am going back through the book slowly and digesting the nuggets of wisdom. I also started reading a quote or two to my seven year old son who loves interpreting the quotes..and I love listening to him! While it is a book on thoughtful advice from a mother to a daughter, everyone can benefit from its wisdom! It is truly food for the soul! Amazing!

Beautifully written and beautiful to look at, this book makes a great gift, especially for moms and daughters.

There is lots of wisdom in here , and the fact that the wisdom is authentic--each page contains a note that the author's mother actually sent to the author--makes it really special.

If you know someone who could use some encouragement right now (and we all probably do), send them a copy of this beautiful book.

I'm late to the party in submitting this review, but better late than never. MC is a well known, respected appellate attorney in Southern California. Her book shares something that has always stood out to me about her: her unyielding optimism, encouragement, and inspiration to make the world a better place. This is an excellent read by a prolific writer, and I'm sure there will be much more to come.

My daughters early mothers day gift a colorful and beautifully designed book filled with encouraging motherly advice.
My daughters unscheduled suprise visit this last weekend continues to bring me joy and laughter daily through this book we shared reading together bringing back happy memories and of her youth.
It brings a smile to my face just looking at it on my coffee table.

The perfect gift! A parent's words of encouragement and love to her child as she meets the challenges of life.
