"A soothing story that helps children understand the new world of COVID-19. It provides them with simple, proven steps for taking appropriate precautions, and will ease the anxiety that has accompanied this pandemic. An added benefit is the resource list provided for parents to learn more facts about this new disease."

About the Author

Sherri L. Rose grew up in Richmond, Virginia. As a retired pediatric and family nurse practitioner, as well as a hospice and palliative care nurse, she recognizes the critical importance of helping children understand what is happening during the pandemic that is currently sweeping the globe. COVID-19 has created so much stress, anxiety, grief, and loss for adults - imagine what children must think, but be unable to express! Inspired by her concerns for the smallest among us - as well as by her own significant grief over not being able to hug her grandchildren during quarantine - Sherri began to write this book to help preschoolers understand what's going on and why all of us have to follow new rules. As a mother of three daughters and three stepdaughters, as well as a grandmother to many more, she hopes that the resources found in this book will be useful to parents and caregivers all over the world.

Megan Brawand is a fifteen-year-old sophomore at Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Virginia. Megan loves to draw, paint, and create digital artwork as a way of combining her thoughts and feelings. Her artwork has been included at several local art exhibits. In 2018, at age thirteen, she created a painting that was chosen for display at Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, Virginia. Megan's other interests include theatre production, sci-fi themes, and vintage automobiles. She plans to attend college to pursue a career in concept art so she may create illustrations that convey a writer's ideas prior to production. Megan is humbled and honored to collaborate with this author on such a wonderful book!

Sherri wrote the lyrics for The Teensy Weensy Virus with a little help from the Gregory Brothers, a Brooklyn-based quartet specializing in comedy music. Evan David Gregory arranged the musical score, which can be purchased at https: //www.sherrirosebooks.com. The arrangement makes for a great song for string players and new pianists. In addition to their work on The Teensy Weensy Virus, the Gregory Brothers are the creators of the video series Auto-Tune the News and Songify This. You can watch their videos, which have been viewed over one billion times, at www.youtube.com/songify.

COVID-19 has created so much stress, anxiety, grief, and loss for adults—imagine what children must think but be unable to express!

Inspired by her concerns for the smallest among us—as well as by her own significant grief over not being able to hug her grandchildren during quarantine—Sherri began to write this book to help preschoolers understand what’s going on and why all of us have to follow new rules. As a mother of three daughters and three stepdaughters, as well as a grandmother to seven, she hopes that the resources found in this book will be useful to parents and caregivers all over the world. Sherri started writing her memoirs several years prior to the pandemic, but staying at home has been quite a help, providing much more time to complete her writing projects. She plans to sell her Teensy Weensy Virus Book Series internationally, and it is her sincerest hope that her little books can help others better understand the science of, and the importance of staying safe during, this pandemic.

Besides writing, Sherri loves gardening, reading, singing (she participates in her church’s virtual choir), playing the piano, cooking, handwork, and playing Scrabble with her fabulous husband, George. While she loves being at home with her husband, she misses seeing and hugging many of her other family members—like so many others who are attempting to follow the CDC guidelines regarding social distancing during this difficult time.

So I confess, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to read this book to my son. He has (what seems like) hundreds of books, but only ever let's me read the same two every night. (I can't begin to tell you how many unread books we have) and every few weeks he will change one. The odds of him wanting me to read this book were slim.

BUT HE DID! And more than that, he LOVED it!! And now it's one of those two books that we read on repeat every night. 🙂🙃 (The other is always the Highlights magazine of the month)
And even better is that he loves the song on the book. Last night he wanted me to sing it on repeat while he put his pj's on.

This book is fantastic!!! 💕❤💕💯🙂

Wow! This book is so appropriate for pre-schoolers. How do we explain a deadly virus to our young ones? The author really created a developmentally appropriate text, included important information for children and their families, and created a cute song that lightens a tough topic. The graphic art work makes the topic approachable, too. My own grandchildren are reading it, and I bought several copies to give to neighbors who have pre-schoolers. I'm so glad this book is available.

Sherri Rose, a pediatric and family nurse practitioner, wrote this book so that parents of young children had a way to explain the challenges and limits to normal life we are all experiencing during the Covid pandemic. It's short, sweet, and to the point -- and will be a helpful teaching tool for many.

The Teensy Weensy Virus is an age-appropriate, compelling, easy to follow book that portrays the importance of safety protocols for children during this crazed pandemic. Sherri Rose does an excellent job of emphasizing these concerns in a kid-friendly manner, and the informative song that accompanies the book is enthralling!

If this book was new a year ago, or even as the kids went back to school in the fall, I'd say it would fill a real need to simply explain what "the virus" was and what we need to do to keep each other safe--yep, masks, handwashing and social distance. It has a nice cadence for reading aloud and the illustrations feature people of various ages, ethnicities and even someone on crutches, making it a very inclusive book. The only problem I have with the book is that it just repeats (but in a very engaging way) the same message that has been sent out in so many ways for so many months. On the other hand, repetition is a key item in teachers' toolboxes, so this may be great for some.

Fantastic illustrations coupled with a very accessible explanation of COVID19 made this a great way of walking through what's going on with the pandemic for young ones.
