The Grammarly team allowed me to share this infographic based on a 3,000 person study about writing. It seems that women were found to be more superior writers. Do you find the results of the study surprising?

Well, the survey seems to reflect the commenters here – that women prefer women authors. That’s more a statement of taste, I think, than a claim of superiority. Women read more overall (I’m fairly sure that’s true), so they tend to drive who’s successful in the many genres they prefer – particularly romance and paranormal fantasy – and will largely favor women in those genres. Now if they read more hard science fiction, military fiction, horror, and thrillers, they might favor men. 🙂
I don’t base my book choices off of the author, but I have noticed that I seem to prefer female authors. Even with books everyone loves (like the Maze Runner, which I hated btw) I don’t seem to enjoy the writing style of men as much. This is not always the case. I loved the Faeries Wars series and The Looking Glass Wars series both of which are written by men. Huh. This was interesting! I do see male authors being more straight to the point, and I definitely read more from female writers, but some of my favorite authors (such as Rick Riordan) are males. ^_^ Aimee @ Deadly Darlings recently posted…Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross: New Adult at Its Finest

I think as females we do tend to read more female authors, but yay for great male authors on your favorites list.
I know I tend to read more women, but there are more women writers in my genre of UF and PNR. I do have a few male authors that I have on my TBR to try. I just need more time on the day. 🙂 Melanie Simmons (@mlsimmons) recently posted…Best Audiobooks of 2014 Blog Hop/Giveaway

I tend to read more women authors as well. There is never enough hours in the day. Poor books get neglected.

I wasn’t a fan of Maze Runner either.

Definitely more women writers on my shelves, but I have found some male authors I adore.
