Ellie loves to draw everything. Towering castles, majestic ships, swaying trees, colorful flowers, even blazing rockets!
As long as the chunky crayon is on her hand, she never runs out of ideas. With creativity too big for the paper canvas, she turns to the walls!

Now that her canvas has become the walls of her cozy coop, she often forgets how to stop.

When Ellie draws a long, long tail of a kite, the straight lines pass from one door to another, from one room to the next, all the way from the living room to the kitchen.

But oh no, Mom is coming!

Ellie feels a twinge of guilt for the mess she has built.

Too late now! What is she going to do with it?

Will Mom have a fit when she sees what Ellie did?

Ellie learns that being an artist is so much more than making cool drawings. She needs to be bold and take flight, even if her creations might cause a little fright.

"Ellie Wants to Draw" is another edition of the Ellie the Little Chick series. This creativity book shows our little ones that owning up to mistakes and taking responsibility are the marks of a true artist.
Order your copy today to see Ellie's colorful drawings and learn how even the tiniest artists can take ownership of their creative thinking!

Guest Review:

I wasn’t expecting to relate so much to a little chick with a crayon, but Ellie Wants to Draw: A Doodle Dilemma totally won me over.

This book is the fifth in the Ellie the Chick series, and even if you haven’t read the others, you can still jump right in. Ellie is a burst of energy and imagination.

She draws everything from castles and ships to rockets and flowers. Basically, if she can dream it, it ends up on paper… or, in this case, on walls.

Yep, Ellie takes her art everywhere, including the walls of her cozy little coop. I read this with my daughter, who immediately giggled at Ellie’s endless ideas and wild crayon trails.

She even said, “That’s just like me when I draw on the table.” (Yes, we had a little chat after.)

What I love about this story is how it doesn’t shame creativity. It celebrates it while still gently nudging little readers to think about responsibility.

Ellie’s worry about what her mom will say is so relatable. But instead of shutting down, she learns that being a real artist means more than just having fun, but also learning from the mess.

The illustrations are adorable and full of color. They make the story pop with warmth and playfulness, and they really helped my daughter follow along with the action from page to page.

The language is just right for young readers. It’s playful without being too tricky, and the rhymes and pacing make it really fun to read out loud. Plus, the rhythm made it easy for me to slip into a few silly voices, which my kid loved, of course.

Overall, Ellie Wants to Draw is a cute story and a reminder that creativity can be messy, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s about learning, growing, and being bold enough to make mistakes (and maybe clean them up after).

If you’ve got a little artist at home or just a kid who loves a cheeky, spirited main character, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a read.
