For this discussion post, we are joining the Book Blogger Hop topic hosted by Coffee-Addicted Writer. Here’s the topic for this week.

This week’s prompt:

What’s the fastest or slowest you’ve ever finished a book?

Julie Review Avatar Julie:

Gosh I wish Goodreads export would show the start and finish dates. I was hoping to do some math but that’s not part of the export.

If we’re talking full length novel and not a cute short novella, I think the shortest I have devoured a book in my adulthood is two days. An entire weekend of binge reading. Now when I was a school kid with free time for days especially over the summer, yes I would read an entire novel in one day. But that’s not reality these days.

The longest? A long AF book has taken me nearly month to get through. The one we read last month in fact. I did it on audio and it took forever. Sometimes I put a book down for a while and come back to it later. I don’t know if that counts, cause that’s not really continual reading.

But typically I read a full length book over a week timespan on average, when including weeknights of very little time to read.

Longest is easy for me – as it’s memorable. It took me SIX MONTHS to read Cold Mountain. That book was NOT for me. Complete slog. I definitely read other books in between reading this one.

Shortest? That’s a bit more difficult. I do read 10-12 hours a week, primarily listening. Between life and work, I don’t normally read a book in one sitting. I did just finish the 20+ hour Iron Flame graphic audio in 6 days. I was SUPER engaged. Being interested certainly helps with reading in less days.

What about you?
