Game Wardens rule most of the galaxy by a fierce empire built on
enslavement and brokered deals. The only means to earn one’s freedom
is by playing in the Alien Games. Two slaves go in the arena, the survivor,
if there is one, is given their freedom and crowned a king, earning them a
small country to rule and slaves of their own.

To make the battle more fun for spectators, genetically enhanced monsters,
sahalias, are given to the combatants, but they must found in a scavenger
hunt. Five orbs, each hatching into a lizard that will bond with their
keeper, are hidden on a random planet. If the competitor finds all five,
they have a great imbalance of power over the other, who will have none. The
sahalias are created with one purpose, to battle to the death and destroy
the other competitor.

Interview with Author

  1. Tell us about your current release

Slaves of an Alien Game is about an average Joe who gets abducted and thrown into a fantastical world on an alien planet. It’s an escape I think a lot of people will enjoy going on with Caden. Even if they may not want to be him. He has to fight to death in an arena.

  1. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I’ve known I wanted to write since before I knew how to write! I would scribble stories on a notebook. It was literally just scribbles. I would later be upset because I couldn’t read what I had written. It didn’t stop me though. All my mom had to do was give me a notebook and pencil and I’d scribble for hours. I’m sure they were amazing stories.

  1. Have you published any previous books?

Yes! Loads, I’ve touched nearly ever genre and I’ve got over twenty books currently available.

  1. What can we expect to see from you in the future, any books on the backburner?

I’m actually having some crossover fun. Characters from the Kidnapped Series and Slaves of an Alien Game will be making appearances in a new series I’m writing about dragons.

I’m also working on releasing some of my books as audio books! Currently, there are only two, but if readers want to see more, I hope they speak up.

  1. What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I’ve been dabbling in miniature painting in my free time. I also like to grow carnivorous plants.

  1. Did you learn anything from writing your book? What was it?

I found out a lot more people are open to being abducted by aliens and swept off to a new life and world. The idea of going out on an adventure is appealing to more people than I thought. Even people who have families and loved ones, they get excited when I talk of going to another planet comes up. I did not expect the fan base for “Slaves of an Alien Game” to be so vast.

  1. Some writers have something playing in the background, do you and what?

I’ve actually been writing in silence lately. I think the background noise I have to filter out at work has made me relish in the silence.

  1. Tell us a little about yourself. Perhaps something not many people know about?

Well, not many know about the carnivorous plant hobby. I have four different tropical pitcher plants. Some sundews and pings, plus about six different kinds of venus flytraps. I feed them large ants and any bugs my cats happen to catch in the house.

  1. What do you hope your writing brings to your readers?

For Slaves of an Alien Game, I hope it provides an escape for readers. There’s also some messages about slavery and social structures. Not only the standard message of how slavery is bad, but how one society can think they know better rather than taking the time to learn about another culture.

About the Author

Nina Schluntz is a native to rural Nebraska. In her youth, she often wrote short stories to entertain her friends. Those ideas evolved into the novels she creates today.

Her husband continues to ensure her stories maintain a touch of realism as she delves into the science fiction and fantasy realm. Their three cats are always willing to stay up late to provide inspiration, whether it is a howl from the stray born in the backyard or an encouraging bite from the so called “calming kitten.”
