We’re chatting about covers on Chapter Break. ‘Cause you know we all judge books by covers, whether we admit it or not. We judge the style, the color and font choices, and just the overall look. That might not keep us from reading the book, but we do still judge.

Oohhhh what an interesting cover. I do like the spooky gothic and haunted feel of it.

The image of the creepy half face is fabulous. The vines or whatever that is breaking the face from the human to the ghoul is quite cool. And I do enjoy a chess set cover, with everything but one piece lacking color. I also like the lightning strike.

But the font… why! The fonts are so horrid both in face and color. They don’t vibe with the style of the bright yellow font overlayed with the really cool image. Now that I’m looking at it further, it almost looks like someone took a really great graphic and slapped some words on top of it.

Ugh the more I look at it the worse it gets LOL!

I’m getting serious Two Face vibes from this cover! I do think the creepy face\body image is well done. I like how the skull side is disintegrating into the rest of the cover. I also like the moon and clouds in the background. Gives the vibes.

I agree with Julie on the fonts. They are noisy and distract from the rest of the cover. The yellow is too bright. And positioning it right in the middle unbalances the entire cover.

I like the chess set with the pawn title. Those seem like more of a match. Which makes me feel like it’s two different cover designs mashed together. Definitely something to look at, though.
